Lee back in 1997 when I was assigned there for CLOAC. As a Marine officer, I was not used to the saluting slogans that the Army used. When the soldier at the gate saluted me, and since Ft. Lee is a TRADOC post, he said "train to fight sir!". Not knowing how to reply, I quickly said "shoot to kill, sergeant!". I remember laughing later when I discussed it with my Army colleagues and thought that since many units have their own slogans (82nd, 101st, 3rd ACR, etc...) that Sergeant must have wondered what sort of awesome unit has "shoot to kill" as their slogan LtCol Brent Norquist Fri, 14 Mar 2014 02:51:46 -0400 2014-03-14T02:51:46-04:00 Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 14 at 2014 3:04 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/saluting-slogans-what-is-your-favorite-response-when-saluting-an-officer?n=75677&urlhash=75677 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Rakkasan!<br><br>Yeah, I'm that guy.<br> SGT Private RallyPoint Member Fri, 14 Mar 2014 03:04:28 -0400 2014-03-14T03:04:28-04:00 Response by SFC Michael Hasbun made Mar 14 at 2014 11:01 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/saluting-slogans-what-is-your-favorite-response-when-saluting-an-officer?n=76203&urlhash=76203 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>"Whatever it takes"<div>"Above the rest"</div><div>"Support starts here"</div><div>"Chairborne"</div> SFC Michael Hasbun Fri, 14 Mar 2014 23:01:51 -0400 2014-03-14T23:01:51-04:00 Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 5 at 2014 4:47 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/saluting-slogans-what-is-your-favorite-response-when-saluting-an-officer?n=94111&urlhash=94111 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>"All the way" has been mine most of my career, and I'm still having a hard time getting used to "Serving to heal" "Honored to serve" <div><br></div><div>other included "down to earth"; "carry the load"; "Strike Hold" </div> SFC Private RallyPoint Member Sat, 05 Apr 2014 04:47:02 -0400 2014-04-05T04:47:02-04:00 Response by WO1 Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 5 at 2014 9:22 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/saluting-slogans-what-is-your-favorite-response-when-saluting-an-officer?n=94179&urlhash=94179 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Always Out Front!<div>Over The Top!</div> WO1 Private RallyPoint Member Sat, 05 Apr 2014 09:22:02 -0400 2014-04-05T09:22:02-04:00 Response by SSG Kevin McCulley made May 3 at 2014 2:51 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/saluting-slogans-what-is-your-favorite-response-when-saluting-an-officer?n=117852&urlhash=117852 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Hail Victory (A Co, 2-3 Inf) the reply being First to Fight since it is the oldest infantry regiment in the Army. A true story goes with mine, though.<br />I finished jump school in April 1970 and after SF training at Fort Bragg, I returned to my unit. A number of years later, I went to OCS and was commissioned in June, 1973. One afternoon soon after, I was walking down a street at Fort McClellan, AL and a grizzled old airborne sergeant first class passed me, saluted and said, "Airborne, sir!" I wasn't used to being saluted and I couldn't recall the airborne return greeting. I was three steps passed him before I remembered, "All the way!" and threw my hand up. I can still hear him laughing! LTC Stephen C.
