The only thing that I foresee changing is the non-chargeable leave currently offered same-sex couples if they live in a state that didn't allow same sex marriage to be taken off the book. I would imagine the OCONUS portion willl stay on the books. Some folks may participate more in unit activities than before, but the overall impact should be rather transparent. As Soldiers (and Sailors, Airman, Marines and Guardians), strive to do our jobs the best we can and that won't change. Those couples who love to attend unit / command functions will do so and those who dislike them will still stay away. Just as before it took time for husbands to be accepted into the Ombudsman and other military spouse associations the same will hold true for same sex spouses / partners. Some will raise their eyebrows but it will not adversely affect anyone much.
