Same sex marriage (SSM); your thoughts? For or against?

I've been watching the social media and the network news in regards to SSM (Same Sex Marriage) and I, for one am tired of all the hate I'm seeing in our country. I think most of us forgot our history lessons and think too highly of ourselves. What's your thinking on this?

Exactly the same as a heterosexual couple, if two consenting adults love each other, and would spend the rest of their lives together regardless of their marital status, then I am all for same sex marriage.

It has been my pleasure to have met many same sex couples, and one thing that I have noticed over the years is that, their Love is every bit as real and as deep as any heterosexual couple that I have met. I believe that they deserve to have the exact same rights to be happy and to marry.

It doesn't hurt anyone so what's the problem? And if it does hurt someone I'd say they have a problem. The Country has bigger issues to deal with other than people who love each other wanting to be legally together like everyone else.

As a liberal Christian, I don't see the big deal. As Americans, and standard bearers for the land of the free. Shouldn't all of us have the right to make those type of life choices. My Pastor, a hardcore conservative who's totally against it in every aspect, gave me an 45 minute break down on his views, and opposition. The one sided discussion was on how same sex couples destroy families. My argument was, so a same sex couple couldn't have a productive family, and the conversation ended.

this is not about equal rights, this is about special rights specifically catered to a minority group of people. it is unconstitutional and immoral. this is a black and white issue to me.

I for one think some of the reaction on social media is funny. Here's my thing, it is great that those who love each other regardless of gender can get married. And yes they should be allow and encouraged to celebrate. However, I feel some people are going out of their way to show either their support or lack of support towards what happened over the past few days.

ssm to me is overblown, thanks to media, and inconsiderate folks. As a country and in defense of it, it shouldn't even be discussed. I don't care what people do on their own in their own homes, but as a country, we need to keep our horses all going the same direction; Defend our freedoms from folks who want to change or take them away. SSM is btwn the individual and their Creator. No one should be offended or insulted either when folks don't want to be around them...I don't like being around hate speech or hateful people either.

On the fence is really a good way of saying that I couldn't be more ambivalent.

I don't care about two grown ups loving each other. It feels like we're reading a children's book about how babies are made when we put it that way. My inner cynic says all they're really doing is opting into the same painful family court/divorce alimony circle that hetero couples enjoy oh so much.

I for one am against it even though I have family that is gay but it really seems to me the ones that are hollering for tolerance are usually the most intolerant people if you disagree with them. Just saying what seems real evident.

I could care less who marries who. How many traditional marriages are all that great? While it may not be your cup of tea, no one is forcing you to get involved in a same sex marriage. Let these people get married and move on already.

My problem with ssm is that they are shoving down our throats with no respect for our rights. That clerk in KY is a perfect example. Everyone says fire her she's not doing her job. It is against her religious beliefs. What makes a gay couples rights more important that her rights? Why does she have to break her beliefs to satisfy theirs? Don't answer with that seperation of church and state crap, the government should never force someone to do something against their beliefs. That's why we are here instead of on an island speaking the kings language.

I really don't care. I think that all marriage should be abolished. However do keep in mind that the same aguements used in favor of homosexual marriage can also be used to support polygamy, incest and group marriages and some cases are already working their way into the courts. At least one state has already legalized incest except in the case of partents and kids. I don't care if they make them all legal and I do expect it to happen.

I am not for or against, todate I have never in my life been in a situation where this issue has made any impact on my personal life. I have had friends that were gay and they were no different than any straight person to be truthful. I have only flipped out once in my life at a gay person who picked me up while trying to get back to Ft.Lewis. It was raining and he stopped and asked if I needed a lift.Thinking nothing of it I accepted. He was a middle aged male in a suit.There was a brown paper bag on my floor board and I used much care not to tromple it, seeing my cautiousness he laughed and made the comment of " Go ahead and look in it, if you like it make yourself comfortable". When I opened the bag it was gay porn, I tossed it down and began screaming at the top of my lungs to stop the car immediately or I would beat his ass!!! I walked the rest of the way back that day and turned down many rides too. As long as they dont try to involve me... to each his/her own I say.
