Now being a staffing specialist myself, I already knew what to look for but just in case others do not, here are some red flags:

1. The supervisor wanted to interview me from Yahoo messenger for a top position.
2. The format of the email sent and the multiple errors threw me off.
3. The fact that the position paid over $30/hr but no background check was mention, nor employment agreement. I asked about this and the only answer I got was, oh, well just let us handle that. How they were going to handle it without the information they needed I do not know :.
4. I gave the weakest answers and wrong information on purpose but was still offered the position.

After I had enough, I contacted the real company and of course they never heard of the person and the position did not even exist! We are now working together to trace and stop this person. If you are approached like this, please do your research and report any possible scam.

Be careful! As stated before, I am a staffing specialist and if you are looking just let me know. I love helping others, especially in this area. Do not fall for this. What they will do eventually is send you a fake check to cash so you can purchase all your office equipment on them or something similar. And request that you send and extra cash back or just have access to your account when you cash the check. There are quite a few out there. If you come across this and do not know how to research it, feel free to reach out to me. Have a blessed day! Should you receive any correspondence that you deem suspicious, please let us know at your earliest convenience.

RallyPoint works with many top companies who are looking to recruit military talent. The following are some tips to keep in mind when working with a recruiter:

Make sure that the recruiter is emailing from a real corporate email account (i.e. IBM.com not gmail.com)
All communication should be on an official platform or over the phone (not Yahoo Messenger or Google hangout)
Real recruiter emails won’t offer or promise something in their opening email. They should just be giving you more information about the opportunity.
If the person reaching out to you is aggressive and gives you a short time table, or if something else seems off, please report it to RallyPoint.

Thank you,

The RallyPoint Team Response by SPC Ophelia Moye made Jun 22 at 2015 10:27 PM 2015-06-22T22:27:26-04:00 2015-06-22T22:27:26-04:00 2015-06-17T09:39:39-04:00
