I earned it before I ever had a set of foreign jump wings and I never wore it. I’m not a big fan of it. Just an opportunity. Once I earned them, I always wore the Colombian HALO wings. Out of the six foreign jump wings I’ve ever earned. Officers are not allowed to wear marksmanship badges in the German army by regulation and by custom in ours. I do have both though. In 1989, I earned my Schutzenschnur in Mainz area. The experience w/ our German &quot;sister&quot; unit was memorable. I wore the Schutzenschnur proudly for many years. These are experiences that I miss about the US Army. Even if I were enlisted, the jump wings are more prestigious.<br /><br />I am proud to have received the Schutzenschnur in &quot;Silber&quot; awarded by our partnership unit, das Panzerbataillon 363. It proved to be one of my more memorable days on a live fire range. He Loved to do it. I was at Brag in Aug. 1966 and one fine day they had us climb a 10 mile high tower. Don&#39;t correct me, I know how high that thing was. Almost touched the sky. The instructor and I had a decussation and I was on my way that afternoon. I liked my baseball cap even when Rod would raze me.
