The Navy has always been less on the fruit salad than the Army. I was discharged as an E-5, outstanding evaluations (recommended for officer programs and type commander commentation), with only a GCM, NDSM, and a couple of marksmanship ribbons. Oh yes, submarine dolphins and strategic deterrent patrol (SSBN) pin with a couple of stars.<br /><br />Not every command hands out colored cloth at each sunrise! Second, he volunteered to serve that's still more than 97% of all Americans. And third, the fact that he served should be beyond reproach because the 97% of Americans that did not volunteer or serve his/her country is not being lambasted about not serving. Fourth and Finally he is getting an honorable discharge which meant he did his duty honorably. What ever he chooses for his next vocation is his business!
