A Seaman is separating from the Navy early to use his Post 9/11 GI Bill to pursue an online poetry degree, and has only 3 ribbons: Good Conduct, National Defense, and GWOT Service Medal. What a loser!!!

PO1 John Miller, we do not have enough info as to why the lack of medals, I have known of sailors attacked to us that only deployed to get promotions points but not leave the wire, by the same token those that did were not recognized for their duty even when we were ambushed. The humor in this when we were attacked the Navy CO attitude was that we were not, good thing I was ARMY.

This is a silly judgment. The Navy has always been less on the fruit salad than the Army. I was discharged as an E-5, outstanding evaluations (recommended for officer programs and type commander commentation), with only a GCM, NDSM, and a couple of marksmanship ribbons. Oh yes, submarine dolphins and strategic deterrent patrol (SSBN) pin with a couple of stars.

Not every command hands out colored cloth at each sunrise!

First, he served, that's more than 97% of all Americans. Second, he volunteered to serve that's still more than 97% of all Americans. And third, the fact that he served should be beyond reproach because the 97% of Americans that did not volunteer or serve his/her country is not being lambasted about not serving. Fourth and Finally he is getting an honorable discharge which meant he did his duty honorably. What ever he chooses for his next vocation is his business!

To use his GI Bill he has have an honorable discharge. If he has an Honorable, then he is not a loser. Anyone that has taken our oath is not a loser, how dare you!
