If America continues to lead from behind, we will lose the ability to guarantee our safety at home and abroad.

What are your detailed plans to fix the VA? As we continue to see more and more young men and women coming home and in need of lifetime care an overhaul is need now to prevent even more problems in the future. A radical IDEA would be to close all the VA facilities (huge savings to the government) and and just give Veterans a medical card allowing them to see the doctors of their choice. NOT an HMO card, but a card to let them see experts in the field they are in need of. The VA needs to spend more money and research in the field of PTSD as well.

This is in response to a prior statement you made, which I agree with: "Instead of a federal government that seeks to dictate school curriculum through Common Core, imagine repealing every word of Common Core. Imagine embracing school choice as the civil rights issue of the next generation that every single child, regardless of race, regardless of ethnicity, regardless of wealth or ZIP Code, every child in America has the right to a quality education. Over the course of your term in the U.S. Senate, I have concerns with you appearing at times as a source of Republican obstruction at times in defiance of leadership or public interest. Naturally this can't be laid entirely on your shoulders alone, but this perception brings into question your ability to produce reasonable compromise as part of a team. I am genuinely concerned with the amount of laws and regulations we have in this country. It has come to the point where I don't feel we have true freedom anymore. We have freedom within the outlines of the law, which becomes more restricted every year. Many of the laws we do have don't fulfill their intended purpose, due to the state of our Justice system. As President, would you do anything to reduce Federal regulation, give power back to the states and local communities, and evaluate the effectiveness of our Justice system?

Additionally, I am concerned about our nation's health. Our communities are plagued with unhealthy habits to include lack of sleep, exercise, and poor nutrition, creating a burden to our economy (reduced productivity) and the healthcare system. Is there anything you would do to empower health and wellness across our nation?

Thank you for coming. This a two part question Sen. Cruz you make a point of mentioning the destruction of ISIS through conventional means. I'd be interested in how you would be successful in comparison to your predecessors who also used conventional means. You've mentioned Carpet Bombing and the use of troops, but that doesn't factor in that no matter how many bodies you kill, the idea will live on. So how are you going to stop the spread of an idea with conventional forces or even through unconventional (SPEC-Ops) forces? It's the idea we need to focus on and I don't feel any candidate has mentioned that fact, but harp on the killing of humans as a solution.
Secondly America has no official religion and the founding fathers recognized that when they drafted up the Constitution. How are you going to maintain the separation of Church and State? I ask being you've repeatedly used religion in many of your talking points as if Christianity is the "sole" religion in the US and the one that should be catered to. So are you willing to alienate those who are of a different faith to appease what you personally believe in, or are you determined to bring them together in a means that recognizes all of them equally, and provides protections for all of them equally? When I say equally that would mean you would condemn the Jewish courts that are in America along with the Sharia Law courts that many believe are here, but aren't officially here.

Senator Cruz, you have outlined what I consider to be an exceptional flat tax plan, the kind that I have been looking to see enacted since I was able to understand how the government's tax system works. Critics denigrate it as blowing a hole in the budget and a giant tax cut for the wealthy.
The usual rubrics of "growing the economy" to make the difference sounds well and good, but how specifically do you expect a change to improve the overall economical climate?

Considering the growing presence of China, Iran, and Russia as potential wartime adversaries, or antagonistic regional powers . . how does your plan to re-vamp the military with an up-tick in military spending and quality gear deter these threats? Which of the following best exemplifies your "Big Stick Policy": training, manpower, equipment, or military exercises? Senator Ted Cruz I think there's plenty of questions out there for you concerning the VA, and current state of the Military. So I'll stay away from those. Here is my question to you.

What are your plans for our nations farmers and ranchers? Crop prices are slowly dropping to the point that the small family farms (500 acres or less) are not able to survive and are being absorbed into the Corporation Farms. The costs assciatated with trying to farm are skyrocketing ie: equipment, seed, fertilizer etc, but the return is barely able to even it out unless you farm extensive amounts of land.

I contacted the "Presidents Help Line" today regarding any contractor attending "KILL THE GAYS" Rallies/Support Networks. Under Amended 11246 under President Lyndon B. Johnson which Protects Federal Contractors.
President Obama this Executive Order in 2014 which furthers that mission.
Threatening any Federal Employee warrants a threat and does stand for terrorism under law-

QUESTION: Without violating conservative principles, how will you broaden your message and campaign to draw in the blue collar Democrat vote? Neither Democrat candidate is really reaching out. Donald Trump's success has been that his message "crosses the isle". The current primary has been overly vicious with all candidates lashing out against their perceived opponents. In reality, the true opponent will be the Democratic candidate. Your campaign MUST be looking beyond the primaries NOW for it to relate and touch the extra voters needed for a win in November. From a military view, this becomes a matter of balancing tactically versus strategically. The winner will be the one who is successful in doing this.

My questions stems from a popular opinion of professional politicians, who vehemently argue for national security and increasing DOD funding. These reforms ensure that the Special Victims Counsel programs is more effective and able to provide better representation to victims of sexual assault. Who represents those falsely accused? Current sexual assault training does not speak to the harm caused by approx. 1 in 4 cases which are later determined to be false reports, either by stressing the need for "true" reporting, or by prosecuting military members who falsely accuse fellow service members of an assault. Further, calling current policy "victims advocacy" and "victims counsel" essentially puts any accuser in the immediate position of being a protected class, even in those cases when the victim is the person accused of such a crime. At present the local level clinic has no programs for in depth treatment of sorts to the vets that they service. In other words if something more serious or in depth is needed you have to travel more than an hour away for me it is the dallas clinic which is extremely hard to navigate very rude people that seem to look down their nose at you all the while only to tell you that your in the wrong building then by that time your late for your appointment either you have to wait for the next spot that is empty to see your doctor or reschedule can we get better treatment?

Not a question, but more of a statement:
Washington is broken and no politician from any party can "fix" it because they lack the will to do so. The gridlock and partisanship are, I believe, exactly what most politicians want in order to keep people at odds so everybody is victimized. If you are a victim you have to vote for somebody to "help" you. That may sound harsh, but I believe it is the truth. I would love to see the system changed so that we actually are a representative republic again, and I believe I have a plan that would work.
1. Repeal the 17th Amendment and return to state legislatures the ability to appoint the two U.S. Senators who represent them. The purpose of the Senate was to give state legislatures representation at the federal level. The senate is NOT there to represent the people directly, but rather give each state an equal voice in government. How many state legislatures did not want Obama Care? 28? That would have been 56 U.S. Senators who would not have voted in support of that bill or they would have been out of a job. I could say the same things about Don't Ask, Don't Tell, DOMA etc. A couple of years ago I checked and there were 17 or 18 states who had one democrat and one republican senator. Those states had ZERO representation at the federal level, but political parties cemented their control. That is not the role of government in a representative republic.
2. Term limits for the House of Representatives. I suggest three terms for a total of 6 years for any person elected to Congress...then they go home, never to return. We have allowed people to become so entrenched with pork barrel politics that they get their constituents so dependent on them they never get kicked out of office. I firmly believe that the only goal of most Members of the House is to try to steal as much money as they can from the other 435 congressional districts simply to bring home the pork so they can get reelected. Nothing of substance gets accomplished. Ever.
3. Real campaign finance reform. For starters make it illegal for a person or corporation to donate money to any political campaign where the seat is not located where the donor lives, or has their company headquarters. If you are running for office in the 9th congressional district of New York the ONLY money you can get is from people and businesses who live or have their corporate headquarters in that district.
4. Close down the border. Democrats are importing illegals so they have another dependent victim class to keep under their thumb. These people who are coming here for a better life are being exploited by pretty much everybody. You could actually fix the border without building a wall at all. Simply make it illegal to: hire, make a loan, rent a house, register to vote, buy a car, enroll in school or get a damn library card to somebody who is here illegally. If you hire an illegal or rent a house or in any way provide a service to them you forfeit your property to the federal government. Period. Take away the incentive to hire these people (because by doing so you risk losing your business) and they will go home on their own. If any city declares itself a sanctuary city withhold all federal money to the entire state until there are no sanctuary cities left. If you have a hold out like California invalidate driver licenses so that they are not considered legal identification for the purposes of air travel, etc.
I know none of my ideas are ever going to happen. Political parties are NOT going to give up the opportunity to consolidate power by appointing Senators. Members of the House are not going to vote themselves out of a job by passing a term limits law, and likewise are not going to give up the money from the big donors who buy influence and favors. Unfortunately no politician is going to advocate anything I said about the border and immigration because you are all pretty much afraid of losing the Hispanic vote.
If I sound jaded, I am. I spent the last 29 years of my life believing in something that I am not sure even exists anymore. We have a constitution for a reason and if we don't turn back to it I'm not sure how much longer we have before American exceptionalism is just a footnote in history.
I very reluctantly voted for McCain. He was (is) a horrible republican who only occasionally gets a conservative streak. I sat home when Romney was running because a big government RINO isn't much better than a big government liberal.
If you get the nomination I will vote for you because I believe you are a conservative; the first one to come around in a long time. If Rubio gets the nomination I will very reluctantly vote for him. If Trump gets the nod I stay home.

There has been a great deal of attention on the "email issue" with Ms Clinton with recent reports finding that some of the information transmitted/received was Top Secret Special Compartmented Information (TS/SCI). Standard practice to be read into TS and especially SCI programs is to be "read on" and "read off" with the execution of associated documentation on how you will and did handle classified information. It is also normal practice to sign an agreement for a CI poly if there is any issue. Why hasn't someone just simple asked Ms Clinton and the DOS to disclose those documents and also for Ms Clinton to just take a CI Poly on this issue (as anyone else who has or had access would do - and routinely does) to clear up these questions? Seems handling this as one woudl for any other member of the Armed Forces or Government would clear this up tight away.

My question double taps two concerns, the battle against ISIS and honesty. It is my personal opinion, that we should use ground troops in the Middle East to quickly and decisively defeat ISIS. It is not about the people in the Middle East anymore, it is about protecting our citizens. As such, in a news interview with Hannity on FOX News, he mentioned over and over again that he thought that you would "of course" be willing to put "boots on the ground" to fight ISIS, but I new your policy and watched intently to see if you had changed it. You paused and then talked all the way around the issue without actually saying what you would do. I was very disappointed. I saw you make the decision to try and mislead the viewers about your position. In my opinion, we have had a "Liar-in-Chief" in the Presidency for the last two terms; I do not want to elect another one.

Please, clearly and precisely explain your strategy for defeating ISIS and how you would bring honor back to the position of Commander & Chief.

There are serious medical issues for many veterans. What would you do to make the VA do more to address these issues. The VA did not recognize Parkinsons for Vietnam vets until 2010. Now many gulf war vets are developing early onset Parkinsons and the VA won't even do a study. There are many studies out there showing this link, yet they still deny it.

Within hours of Justice Scalia's death, you took a very firm position that President Obama should not nominate a replacement for the Court. You believe the "American People should have a voice". You also have said you want someone on the Court who is an originalist as was Justice Scalia. My question, Senator, has several parts. Haven't the American people already voiced their opinion that President Obama is the person best qualified to nominate a Supreme Court Justice? After all, he is the duly elected President of the United States. Additionally, Justice Scalia, as an originalist, I believe would interpret the President's duty to nominate a Justice as enumerated in Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution to be inviolable. There is no mention of time limits or "lame duck" status. Is it not hypocritical to want an "originalist" Justice on the Court at the same time you want to disregard the Constitution when there is also precedence for this appointment?

I've posted this letter on our site once before but I feel as an introduction to who my wife and I are I need to post it here as well.

I find it both amusing and sad that many people whom joined this site joined it only to express their opinions not to exchange ideas or take part in the democratic process. As the man says… “ Are you Listening? …. Or are you just waiting to talk?

This is of no little consequence.

We are a Constitutional Republic that was founded on the principles of Fiscal Responsibility, Free Markets, and a Constitutionally Limited Government. We also must bear in mind our real history. The Christian History of the Constitution of the United States of America.

No like likes to be entertained more than I do but there comes a point when we need to put on our Big Boy Pants and be the Adult in the Room. Therefore as much as it is entertaining to watch the Donald stick his finger in the eye of the GOP as they most certainly do deserve it, I have to back off and remind both myself and others that electing the next president of the United States is Serious Business. Most certainly NOT an entertainment. Therefore after careful consideration and much prayer my beautiful bride of 47 years and I have come to an agreement that number 1. Voting for the lesser of two evils is STILL Voting for EVIL! And number 2. As we are members of the Black Robe Regiment and agree 100% with David and Tim Barton that We need More Godly Men to Run and Win Political Office!

Therefore Literally the Only real candidate for President that we can vote for is Dr. Ben Carson. One needs to ask oneself if biblical consideration has entered in their choice or not. If you subscribe to the notion that “By Their Works You Shall Know Them”… then again your only answer to whom to vote for should be Dr. Ben Carson.

While some of the candidates on the democratic party seem to believe they its either ok or that they have dealt with some of the problems by saying you can go to a doctor near you if you leave over 40 miles.. Intro: Madison vetoed the first attempt by Congress for the Federal government to assume the role, responsibility, and power (RRP) in a Bill that would have created the Department of Transportation in 1817. In his veto message he said the Federal government could not use the General Welfare, Commerce, Necessary and Proper, or the Supremacy Clauses and that these clauses only pertained to the enumerated powers within the Constitution. He further stated that for the general (Federal) government to take on this RRP that they would have to follow the Article V process to amend the Constitution getting three-fourths of the States to approve this RRP in the ratification process. If this is true than how is it that the so many RRP Departments exist without Amendments to the Constitution?

If one reads Madison's notes on the Convention of the Constitution and the Ratification debates there was no allowance for the Judiciary to create new Constitutional matters or RRP's, and there was no allowance for Statutes of Limitations or even precedence or case Law when it came to what is Constitutional and what is not. Jefferson and Madison pointed out to the Republic that States could nullify unconstitutional laws, so why do the States not convene a convention to audit and nullify all unconstitutional RRP's in a Convention of what I will refer to as "Republic Review," per my second book in fixing the Constitution and Reclaiming the Republic. As President would you call for and lead the States into this Convention?

Currently retired reservists are not eligible for retirement pay until age 60. Sir, please explain to me how as a Conservative and expert on the Constitutional, you feel you can get around Section 1 of Article Two clause 5 of the United States Constitution?

‘No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.’

‘Citizen’ is mentioned twenty one times in the Constitution and Amendments, (Ten in the Constitution itself and eleven times in Amendments) but a natural born citizen is only referenced once? I think we all can, or should, agree that to represent ‘We the People’ in this Republic, one must at least be a citizen of the United States. Additionally, in all representative positions, (Representative, Senator and President) one must have reached a certain age, Representatives and Senators must also be resident of the state they represent. The President does have slightly different wording in their eligibility, instead of being a certain number of Years a Citizen of the United States; the President must be ‘fourteen Years a Resident’? The framers of the Constitution, having fought and bled founding our Nation realized that one needed to be either here at our Nation’s founding (at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution) or born within the United States of America (natural born) after that date. This was done in an attempt to stop, or at least limit, foreign influences in the highest office of this great Nation. England had allowed a foreign-born head of state, and this had been an unhappy experience for many who had immigrated to the United States and was a lesson they had learned from their own history. So the concept of ‘natural born’ came directly from the laws and codes of the Empire they had just separated from. What was the concept that they adopted for the good of our Republic?

I think all scholars and laymen studying the issue will agree, the main authority and source for the meaning of "natural born" that the documents writers were looking to was William Blackstone (10 July 1723 – 14 February 1780), and specifically his Commentaries on the Laws of England (and particularly the second volume)

St. George Tucker (July 10, 1752 – November 10, 1827) one of the leading jurist of the period and an editor and expert on Blackstone’s Commentaries on the Laws of England wrote: ‘Persons naturalized according to these acts, are entitled to all the rights of natural born citizens, except, first, that they cannot be elected as representatives in congress until seven years, thereafter. Secondly, nor can they be elected senators of the United States, until nine years thereafter. Thirdly, they are forever incapable of being chosen to the office of president of the United States. Persons naturalized before the adoption of the constitution, it is presumed, have all the capacities of natural born citizens.’ Drawing a distinction between ‘naturalized’ and ‘natural’ and stating that ONE COULD BE NATURALIZED AND RUN FOR ANY OFFICE BUT PRESIDENT, BUT TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT ONE MUST BE BORN INSIDE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA…or born and living here before June 21, 1788.

I understand that under our laws, you were a citizen at birth, BUT being born to parents legally residing in Canada, you were natural born in another sovereign nation and a subject of the Queen. Please explain to me and RP how one can have dual natural born status. While I would love to be able to support you for President, every soldier, sailor, airmen and Marine took an oath to defend Our Constitution and without a clearly explaining how Tucker, and others, are wrong, I will openly and loudly oppose your candidacy.

Thank you for taking the time to do this Q&A session with us. It seems like many of the candidates are talking a lot about doing a lot for veterans more than years past. I know that the VA is a totally broken and dysfunctional system.

My question to you is what will you do to help my brothers and sisters that are homeless and those that are taking their lives at record rates? Veteran homelessness is near 25% and more veterans have taken their own lives than those killed in the Iraq conflict. It infuriates me to see illegals and refugees get better and faster healthcare and housing than my brothers and sisters. This is why I and many others feel like we (veterans) are being used as pawns in this chess game of campaigning.

I have been going over the topic of Ted Cruz with my brilliant cousin that is in law school in U of Min. He has one of the most analytical minds of anyone. I am neither for nor against Cruz, but there were some disconcerting things that we discovered.
Ted claims to adhere to constitutional originality. He is the son of an American mother, and a Cuban father, and was born in Canada. Based on current rulings, in a slightly sneaky way, he is eligible to run for president. However, based on his proclaimed belief system he should eliminate himself from the race. Here are the reasons: Under the original constitution a citizen was born on American soil, and if not on American soil then must have had both parents from the USA. If it were to be argued to one parent, then it must've been the father. Also, Canada is a birthright citizenship country. He was born in Calgary. This means he is technically a Canadian citizen if following original terms. Also, he fails to follow the Father's line and the claim that Cuba can make upon him as one of their citizens.
So in the 1940's they changed it so that either the mother or the father had to be a US citizen in order to claim a child as a citizen. Due to this Cruz was never naturalized, and that twist in interpretation allows him to run. However, it's hypocritical. He was not a "natural-born" citizen, and atop the previously mentioned things could be considered reasonably ambiguous.
I don't care for any politicians, but I do care about the honor one must have to go to office. This hypocritical act alone is enough for me to call out "dishonorable" but after it became fact that he personally admitted to weasel tactics during the campaign, I would find it interesting for him to be able to explain in full why he believes he's an exemption to his own proclamation of constitutional originality and how his Iowa and SC lying tactics were honorable in the least.

However, one near and dear to my heart is the provision of kind, compassionate, and adequate in patient and out patient psychological care for the women and men who suffer from "secondary" (also known as "compassionate") PTSD arising not out of combat, rather arising out of providing triage, preparation, surgical, post-op, and subsequent care for troops and civilians - often in an overcommitted mass casualty environment. The way the military spends money is incredibly broken and wasteful. The current model is "spend everything you have before September because we might not get it in the future." This mindset results in tons of wasteful spending that doesn't help troops, make us more combat ready, or accomplish any mission. Some examples of this are on Peterson AFB where millions were spent to build a new gate 100 yards from the old gate or on a smaller scale a unit in Fort Sill spending the rest of their annual budget to build a gym in their basement when they were located across the street from the base gym. I know each event is small potatoes but these really add up when EVERY unit in the military does this. Do you have a plan to reign in DoD spending so that we aren't wasting tax payer dollars by buying frivolous things?

I think we need to get a strict Constitutionalist in the Oval Office. This election is too important for the whole Bill of Rights and how we govern America. We need someone who can clearly articulate and defend the founding documents of this great nation. America is exceptional and it is because it is truly a nation "Of the People, By the People, and For the People" as Lincoln so eloquently put it. I am tired of politicians pandering to groups of people; creating a victim class simply to get votes, and then not delivering on any of those promises, or even worse compromising on their alleged "beliefs" in order to reach across the aisle to get consensus with the other party. Most conservatives feel this way and have abandoned the establishment GOP. The fact that Trump is extremely popular with frustrated, but not very well informed, voters shows the level of anger conservatives have with the establishment GOP. We can't find a home as a libertarian and we are sick and tired of those we support "reaching across the aisle", only to have their hand slapped. We don't want somebody who is going to compromise on principles and the constitution.

It is not enough to appoint Constitutional Conservatives to the US Supreme Court, as you well know the Democrats and liberal progressives have been appoint "activist jurists" on the federal benches for years. Currently there has been little to no firewall between the SCOUS and those assaulting our God given rights and liberties. How are you going to reverse that trend? How aggressively are you going to "clean house?"
2. On a related issue, the most tempting gun free zones for terrorists and other criminals have been military bases, recruiting stations and reserve centers. The attacks in Fort Hood and recently on the USN Reserve Center and Recruiting station in Chattanooga, TN is just the latest example. DOD military and civilians are targets and are being targeted. Senator Cruz - as a government civilian and reservist, the rise in costs for medical, food, and overall life have become overbearing. Recent 1% pay raises for government employees have not kept up with the national averages, especially in the cyber realm, forcing many to seek external employment for better wages. What is your plan to get federal employees and military members back into a modest salary, commensurate with current living requirements for the US? When will the effects of sequestration be lifted off the civilian workforce? What is your long term plan for a financially stable America? Is this a year to year plan, or do you have a short, intermediate, and long term goal? Can we have coffee and talk when you come to San Antonio?

Good Day Senator Cruz,

Thanks for coming on the site. As a home owner and a service member, I have been forced to move from my home several times due to PCS orders. With the housing market issues, it's hard to find tenants or sell our homes high enough to pay off the mortgages. So I have to maintain two households. I have been battling with the banks for several years to get some interest rate reliefs, but none of the Government programs are helpful to me as a SVM. Most of the programs require the home to be your primary residence. The problem is, you have to be physically living in the property to qualify as primary residence... a loophole for the banks not to assist. I cannot live in the house while on USS Always Gone, and the banks don't care. Also, the SCRA benefit allows SVM to obtain 6% interest rates, but the catch is, the debt must be incurred prior to military service. Considering no SVM (very few at best) purchase their homes prior to joining the military, what can you do, if elected CIC to resolve this issue.

I don't know all the possible selectees. However, my choice would be someone who didn't receive a law degree from an Ivy League school, some judicial and legislative experience as well as someone who served in the military (possibly a former military judge). Whose past legal opinions and public statements demonstrate an even tempered approach to adjudication of laws and interpretation of the Constitution. Our Second Amendments right are secure now an will be secure regardless of who is chosen. Let the President exercise his Constitutional obligations and let the Senate show how dysfunctional are and how they will disrespect Justice Scalia's memory. The President, "He shall have power, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, to... appoint ambassadors, other public ministers and consuls, judges of the Supreme Court," Article II, Section II US Constitution.

Senator, thanks for reaching out to the Rally Point community; that demonstrates your support in our military and veterans community. I would like your view on 3 things. 1)budgeting enough so the services can do their jobs (I know some of that is addressed in the posted article); my service, the Army is especially worried. Related to that how do we keep our military readiness without aggravating the out-of-control national deficit 2) The problem with VA health care and dealing with disabled veterans to include brain trauma and PTSD; 3) Your stand on supporting Israel, our staunch ally, in its fight against terrorism. I am very upset with many people from the USA and allied European nations unfairly bashing Israel. They are not fighting the Palestinian people, only the terrorists, which is a small % of the population. They don't realize that Israel wants to support and help peace-loving Palestinians and Arabs, however, the terrorist groups sabotage any efforts to make peace such as using human shields (putting terrorist strongholds next to peaceful institutions.) I am a veteran and a health care provider. My question is related to the continued decline in Medicare reimbursements as well as the deductions imposed if we are unable to conform to all Meaningful Use Measures.

Most veterans are not covered with life long health care coverage and will end up on Medicare.

With the declining reimbursements and increasing burdens imposed by the Medicare system and Meaningful Use, what do you feel can reasonably be accomplished with our broken political system, to improve this situation? As these financial constraints are worsened, more and more providers are being placed into a position where we have to eliminate or exclude Medicare patients from our schedules.

I ask you basketball and sport question or two because our military watches sports broadcasting on Armed Forces Network, AFN world wide. The military culture recognizes sports and teaming as a model for organizational structure and behavior. Military teams are competitive, combative and also humanitarian.

When we come out of the military, we are veterans and not civilians, however we do our best to be a part of our communities. Veterans still volunteer in non-profit organizations like the American Legion, VFW, DAV, Purple Heart Association, etc. Being a part of a team and contributing to society, we veterans still proudly serve.

Senator, It's hard to ignore some things that our own Government puts out. State Department Publication No.7277, PL87-297 Arms Control and Disarmament Act published in the 60's openly pronounces the good and global benefit of and how to go about the dismantling of a Military and the importance of reducing the size of that country's Military to under two million personnel. As a Vet and a Citizen I find this to be especially alarming since we are now well below that number militarily, as well as all the attacks on our 2nd Amendment, and our POTUS efforts to sign on with UN gun control laws. Senator Cruz,

I have read your "American Resolve: Rebuilding America’s Military" article on your website and I agree with many of the points listed. One of the points that hits close to home for me is the manning issue facing the Air Force. In November, 2014, a massive Reduction-in-Force took place to cut Air Force personnel to satisfy the current administration's wishes. To my recollection, approximately 35,000 personnel voluntarily exited the Air Force. Another approximately 500 personnel were non-voluntarily released as well. Soon after personnel left in April 2015, there were many reports of Air Force career fields being left with insufficient manpower to accomplish their missions. This leads me into one of your points.

These personnel who were released from Active Duty have the experience, training, and knowledge to help lead a timely reconstitution of the Air Force. Many would likely rejoin Active Duty if given the opportunity. If required, they can also crosstrain into other critically manned career fields much quicker than brand new personnel. This would also provide the Air Force with a much needed infusion (or transplantation) of experience and backgrounds into different career fields to better the entire Air Force as a whole. This is a perfect opportunity to leverage experienced leadership to great benefit of the national defense.

This method could also be utilized to help reconstitute the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps.

My question, sir, is how would you increase the manning of the Department of Defense as a whole to benefit national security?

I'm a Marine Vet and gun owner.. But can we please... Regulate Private sales of firearms.. FFLs and gun stores, already required by law anyway, for a fee of$15-45 per transfer should run backgrounds on the buyers in private sales. More revenues for them too. Though a private sale, a buyer is a buyer.. The private seller will never know if the buyer is a prohibited possessor. FFLs call NCIC for a clearance whether to sell or not. What's the difference me buying from a store and buying from a private seller unless I got something to hide. Just common sense. This is where the criminals guns mostly come from. The trunk of a car on a Saturday night..from backpage or craigslist... In private sales. Ofcourse it will not stop mass shootings where the guns were mostly bought legally anyways but it will stop gangsters from terrorizing city streets like Chicago and LA where gun laws are a joke.

We have heard a lot from the other candidates as well as yourself about taking care of the veterans but I never hear anything about taking care of the retired veterans, they have been suffering slowly through ever increasing attacks on their benefits and higher payments for health care which was relatively free 15 years back as well as very high survivor benefit payment plan and very little if any Cost of living adjustment to the pension while our active duty brethren are getting a pay increase nearly every year.

Senator, you and the other republican candidates have spent a lot of time telling us how you differ from each other. I am more concerned about how you are different from Sec Clinton and Sen Sanders. Stay away from the typical liberal vs. conservative beliefs. Don't give us platitudes, help us differentiate you from the noise the others are making.

I have to say I am disappointed by this whole exercise. There were many, many thoughtful and debated questions posed; however, by my count, only 6 questions were answered, most were links to campaign materials and at least 1 was answered by 5 or 6 words.

I don't want to jump to conclusions, are there more answers to come?

As a Christian I am trying to support you, but the incident with Dr Carson and the incident with Trump's wife are making it very difficult. Have you considered the Lt. Governor of Kentucky for VP? She is an African American Woman and a veteran and a Tea Party candidate. I know you will do your due diligence but I thought I might suggest it. It might garner some free media coverage as the world considers this little known newcomer as your VP.

Now my question to you is: Should the people who, by word and deed that participated in the insurrection of Jan 6th be tried for TREASON?? Senator Ted Cruz - I am interested in why we have so many open and closed Congressional hearings to "get to the bottom of it" and nothing ever happens after that. I am wondering what is being done at your current level to actually get to the bottom of malfeasance and oust/punish those that require it? And a last question: what is being done about the platform vs publisher debate for social media platforms that claim they have the right to play editor yet still be considered to be a platform?
