There's 4 ways to reclass to 11B: Reenlistment class seat, reclass without training from 11C, go to Ranger school and reclass after, and finally go to Ranger Regiment and let them reclass you if you pass RASP.

11B reclass seats are weirdly hard to come by and have been for the last few years. But you can probably get an 11C class seat, they have those in SFAB.

What are the typical differences between them. I know they are still infantry but what the main differences between the 2 mos other than just that they are mortars (apologies from a current ada Pog)

SPC (Join to see) the primary difference is equipment and training.

SPC (Join to see) an 11C is an 11B who then gets qualified to shoot a mortar. The difference is irrelevant for your situation because shortly after you become an 11C you can request to convert to an 11B without training.

I do not recommend 11B just because you want to go to SFAB. That is because SFAB is only a broadening assignment and you will spend more time out of SFAB than in it to get your Key Development time. SFAB wont even consider an 11B until you are eligible for SSG, but it is best to wait until you get 24 months Squad Leader time. There are other MOSs that do not have KD time that could leave you in SFAB for a lot longer periods of time. Look into 92Y, 91B, 13F, 25U and 68W.

SPC (Join to see) KD time is Key Development Time. It is time required to fill certian duty positions based off MOS and rank. Go to armypubs.army.mil and find Da Pam 600-25. It will redirect you to milsuite where you can read about required development for whatever branch you're interested in.
13F are in charge of planning, coordinating, and calling for indirect fire assets, including close air support from aviation assets. My 13F on my SFAB team was great and was selected to be a targeting warrant.

1SG (Join to see) appreciate it First Sergeant. I’ve been debating between 11B or 13F for a while now not solely due to Sfab but i feel like that environment would work for me in the future thank you for everything
