I am calling him tomorrow, will get back to you.

Our initial conversation was a whole lot of "meh. Just more Army stuff. Your organization doesn’t matter; you’ll be doing the same job everywhere. If you want real insight, look up SFC Joshua Hall on Global. He just transitioned to the new SFAB on Fort Hood a few months ago. He was one of my NCOs; tell him I sent you. He will give you all the info you need. Unless you have 68W and a secondary MOS. 68Ws in the SFAB do the same thing as in a regular unit, tell me to drink water and change socks. Only difference is now you get to tell a medic in a different army how to tell that to people. Or be willing to reclass. I would do it in a heart beat but im locked down for a few more years. And this is just my opinion and how I look at it in my own head after being in SFAB for 6 months now, if you’re a support MOS, every unit in the army in one way or another revolves around combat arms, and your training will revolve around supporting the mission of those combat MOS’s. In SFAB, at least my unit, training revolves around the responsibilities of every individual soldier, in order for the Team to work proficiently. I’m a mechanic and I’ve done schools that a mechanic wouldn’t normally do. I was with SFG(A) before this and that unit would of never sent me to be a raven and puma operator, because there was 18 series qualified in that, and there would be no reason to have a mechanic touch that equipment, it only made sense to send me to maintenance course and courses related to my MOS, but I’ve had so many opportunities to cross train and learn new things that I otherwise would have. I’m liking it so far. I recommend reclassing if you need to and applying to join when you can.
