Keep trying. I had to wait two and a half years for points to drop. When they did they were still in the 700's

In the '80s it was had to get SSG in Communications because the Cut-Off score was always 998. I was an SGT for about 3 years and I was PCSing from Italy when the Cut-Off score dropped in Aug '83 to 886 and I had 912 points. Since I was leaving, Personnel didn't have time to process my paperwork, so I had to wait till I finished school and arrived at Ft. Hood. In Feb '84 there was a re-comp and I had 923 points but it didn't matter because once they looked up the cut-off for Aug '83, I was promoted immediately and back dated to Aug 1, 1983.
So my point is, keep striving to be the best and get the schools and college courses you need to get the points. Your time will come.
