It is a bullshit investigation that comes from another NCO that accused him of sexual harassment for a verbal statement that he made to someone else in the army and never to her. How long do these investigations last? What are the chances he will get in trouble? He admitted to the statement and he made it to another soldier but never to her and she only reported because the one he made it to is her boyfriend and they are being investigated for fraternization. My soldier has never been in trouble and he is solid in performance. The investigation began end of October.
How long do these investigations take? It has been closed but it is at legal for the last three weeks? Also he was never flagged for the investigation and never given a counseling for it but it is still under investigation. Should he have a flag put in place for this? How long to SHARP Investigations take? 2019-12-06T18:40:53-05:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 5315557

SHARP INVESTIGATION occurred on one of my soldiers and he is not flagged. Many times over. It is stated in those briefings that someone doesn't have to be the intended recipient of comments to file a complaint. If someone within ear shot hears the comment(s), and are offended, then they can file a complaint. As for the investigation length, that is determined by the Investigating Officer. And then determined by Legal. If I were to guess, I would say the end results should be handed out to the Soldier fairly soon. Let the investigation take its course.

SHARP cases are taken seriously so the investigation will be very throughout. These days "being offended" has given people the right to silence others even if the "offender" meant no ill will or bad intention.
Growing up I was taught that anything anyone says at any given time is going to offend someone somewhere. So don't intend to offend. Be positive. But we don't live in this world anymore. It seems like our freedom of comedy is gone. Anything you say can be put on twitter and your life can be ruined. To me, that is the offensive thing. One of the categories of SH is hostile environment. This comment potentially created a hostile environment.

All reports have to be taken seriously. However, having had to have been in multiple SHARP classes at this point, you should know (as well as your soldier) that it doesn't matter who a comment is intended for. If someone is near and is offended by it, they can report it.

The fact he admitted to it this shouldn't have taken too long. No one should be subject to inappropriate behavior or communication in the workplace. Whether or not the SM has been in trouble or not has nothing to do with the investigation process. In harassment cases the Investigating Officer will investigate as many people as he needs to (this is usually more than two or three people). Flagging a SM is up to the command team to initiate, sometimes they wait until after the findings have been released, sometimes their actions take place immediately after the investigation. If the incident is still at legal then it may be waiting for further action such as court martial.
