I can't seem to find any significant details in the news.
Two white males in a pickup truck with guns and a 'broken arrow' sign.
This narrows it down to 50% of the MS population...

LTC John Shaw, it would be ironic is if the two white males were part of the aggressor forces in the Joint Training who either had too realistic pyrotechnics and weaponry or got carried away with their role :-)
In any event I am glad that nobody seems to have injured by the confrontation.

Very misleading headline so far - from what I can tell, the shots were heard and that's it - could have been two guys shooting squirrel, rabbit or snakes - no indication shots were directed on base or at "soldiers".

How were they able to confirm that it was shots fired? Did they locate brass or have eyewitnesses? If it was shots fired, thank God for piss poor non-military marksmanship. So much for 'thank you for your service.' They are going to start issuing bullet proof PT belts after this.

Here's the problem with Camp Shelby. Once you leave the cantonment area(which is somewhat secure), and head to the training area it's all wide open. Civilians run all the roads out there. There's actually a National Forest there also. We just left there about a month ago, and we almost had 3 separate accidents with civilians driving the tank trails and were rolling down them with Bradley's.

One of our AA locations not even 1/2 mile away there were civilians having a party (with huge ass bonfire)

So nothing really surprises me from down there.

Am I surprised? No. I blame all the fearmongering that has surrounded Jade Helm 15, and all the conservative (yeah, I said it) mouthpieces who have espoused "reasonable concerns" as to the nature of the exercise. Their words have the sound of reason, but are intended to incite fear.

Ok, so when you hear that shots were fired, don't mean that it took place on the installation. Camp Shelby's training area is in the National Forest, which is pretty much open to the public

Being that I was with HQ at Camp Shelby it was a wide open camp in the late 80's - many civilians running around driving at night with a case of Dixie Malt Liquor in them. Sounds like a redneck mating call to me.
