Should a Kuwait deployment in support of Operation Spartan Shield (2015?) be reflected in Block 18 of a DD214?

I've seen several Block 18s filled out that include "Service in Kuwait YYYYMMDD-YYYYMMDD". AR 635-8, para 5-6 just specifies deployment and not specifically "combat" deployment. My separations clerk says Kuwait deployments don't get delineated in Block 18. Anyone else run into this situation? Is it because OSS isn't a contingency operation? Any ideas on references for this? Thanks.

When I was there in 2015-2016 it was under OEF-SS. It is on block 18 of my DD214. There may be a difference between how it is associated with NG and RA, since for the RA Kuwait is a hardship duty location. That is the only thing I can think of for it not being on block 18 of your DD214.

CPT D F, I was in 3/4ID and we deployed to Kuwait for 6 months right after 9/11. My Block 18 states what you wrote above with no delineation. I don't think our deployment had an operational name other than our Task Force name.

Kuwait should fall under a Theater of Operations, AEF Iraq.
