Should a soldier be able to PCS or get an Honorable discharge if they are flagged? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/should-a-soldier-be-able-to-pcs-or-get-an-honorable-discharge-if-they-are-flagged <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am surprised that Army hasn't fix this issue because why should any of my peers be able to PCS when they failed a pt test or are overweight. In my opinion PCS is a privilege not a right because it give soldier like me a chance to see a different part of the U.S. or different countries. It also give them a fresh start. I don't think it fair and it is a bad impression and example for soldiers thinking they don't have to meet the standard. Do you think the Army will change this. A honorable discharge has nothing to do with a PCS move. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Mon, 14 Jul 2014 14:42:41 -0400 2014-07-14T14:42:41-04:00 Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 14 at 2014 2:43 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/should-a-soldier-be-able-to-pcs-or-get-an-honorable-discharge-if-they-are-flagged?n=178022&urlhash=178022 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div><br />Per regulation you get an honorable discharge if you get discharged for ABCP or APFT, and you get flagged automatically when you fail one of those and when you are getting chaptered, so one thing really has nothing to do with the other. Also, a couple years ago you couldn't PCS if you did not pass height and weight, but someone in their infinite wisdom decided to change it. I don't see the Army changing the discharge type or allowing a flagged Soldier to PCS anytime soon. I am familiar with several cases where disgruntled soldiers who were under investigation or being chaptered out made counter-allegations in attempts to get even, block a promotion, and block a desirable PCS. In all the case on my watch things were eventually corrected; in one case a senior person lost a good assignment due to the delays. <br />That said, we do have more rights than we think, and we have them because some people abuse their authority and personalize issues and actions. Have seen in many, many times. Those people should pay double penalty for making false accusations. And yet, some people believe the accusations they make. And some leaders just don't like you, they are equal opportunity discriminators. That's not illegal. It's not particularly effective either. Sometimes it can be a punishment. If I could have avoided PCSing from my previous base, I would have.
