Should a Soldier with a profile be considered over a soldier without a profile?

I interviewed for a higher position, in the interview, SGM says "You're one of the most qualified in the bunch you got the job, I will have it blessed off by CSM". After not hearing an update, I paid him a visit. Make story short, he tells me they selected the guy with a profile because he needs time to "recover". I tell him, "SGM I should've had a profile", but he only shrugged his shoulders. FML

What kind of position were you interviewing for? I would say it depends on the physical demands of the slot. For example, prior to deployment when filling staff slots occasionally there would be a couple line guys equally qualified except one would be profiled and I'd take the profile Soldier and leave the fully fit Soldier on the line where their better physical condition would benefit the troops.

SFC Private RallyPoint Member long story short it looks like you got screwed over. IF it was just because he had a profile and you did not this is just an example of "taking care of someone" really screws over another. There are methods of grievance to file a complaint.

This is the "unicorn" scenario. I highly doubt profiled soldiers are being selected over soldiers without a profile in even marginally sized numbers. Trust me, that soldier with a permanent profile has officially ended his/her career.

Maybe they have a profile due to a service related injury. Perhaps you should be grateful for your full health.

I think the profile should be excluded for the position especially since the recovery is built into the profile itself. I think the person who made the choice should have chosen the best candidate for the position and not based off of a profile. There are units designed for people in those type of circumstances. I say that because his/her recovery times are sometimes ambiguous and depend on the individual. He/she may not have recovered at all and could have required more treatment or an MEB. Then there sould have been a slot opened again. I thought readiness is something we all are supposed to focus on now.
