I would say it depends on the physical demands of the slot. For example, prior to deployment when filling staff slots occasionally there would be a couple line guys equally qualified except one would be profiled and I&#39;d take the profile Soldier and leave the fully fit Soldier on the line where their better physical condition would benefit the troops. I highly doubt profiled soldiers are being selected over soldiers without a profile in even marginally sized numbers. Trust me, that soldier with a permanent profile has officially ended his/her career. I think the person who made the choice should have chosen the best candidate for the position and not based off of a profile. There are units designed for people in those type of circumstances. I say that because his/her recovery times are sometimes ambiguous and depend on the individual. He/she may not have recovered at all and could have required more treatment or an MEB. Then there sould have been a slot opened again. I thought readiness is something we all are supposed to focus on now.
