I understand that you need to be physically fit in order to perform your duties. I agree that the APFT should be worth 100 points. However, many Soldiers are taking classes that can help them or set them above the rest in their MOS. Many are taking advantage of a free education to help them understand and progress in their MOS. Their hard work and dedication should be recognized when they are trying to fight for those promotion points in order to make themselves a more well-rounded leader and individual. Should college be worth at least 200 promotion points? Especially when it has become highly encouraged in order to make SFC or above. 2015-04-06T17:07:48-04:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 575290

I see some senior NCOS trying to make MSG and they are not being picked up because they do not have any college completed or have a degree. If the APFT is worth 100, maybe 125 or 150 max for civilian education? I think civilian education does warrant more than the current numbers (75/100, I believe).

In the end, the benefits of civilian education are greater than promotion points. Civilian education is like a plus. As you move up on the ranks, you start to balance between being a hands-on Soldier to being a leader, a manager. This is why civilian education is right where it is suppose to be because it is an ongoing committment unless you're high speed and stay focus on your goals.
