They do get to vote on their COLA, they should get the same COLA that the SS gets. Don't see this on getting overturned anytime soon, it only took 200 years to get it ratified. Semper FI. Additionally, I believe that Congress should not get a full pay retirement after 8 years in office. They should get one years pay and out the door. If they manage to stay there for 20, then a retirement might be warranted. I agree it is kinda out there on the high end of OMGness. Still, their pay is nothing compared to their pay per play opportunities. I have a plan to eliminate the influence of outside money.
These steps are designed to equalize the influence of each member in each house.
1. The Congress and Senate should be term limited.
2. The sitting Congress and Senate should have their personal assets frozen while serving. These assets should be placed in the trust of a government public accountant/ investment professional reflecting the G rate of the TSP.
3. The sitting Congress and Senate should have to live on their allotted pay in their positions.
4. No outside fees can increase the income of the sitting representatives.
5. The only way for sitting representatives to increase their income would be to invest in the current market like everyone else.
6. Every law that is passed must apply to the representatives in Congress and the Senate.
7. After leaving the service of the people, no former Representative nor Senator should be able to attain personal employment in a position that corresponds with sitting members for a full term limit after they leave office.
I challenge @John McCain to present and pass a better reform before I have a chance to vote against him.
