* 2383 – Rebellion or insurrection. Inciting or assisting a rebellion against the United States, or giving comfort to those who insight an insurrection, can be imprisoned for up to 10 years under this statute.

* § 2384 – Seditious conspiracy. If two or more people in the U.S. conspire to overthrow, destroy, or oppose the U.S. government by force or to prevent the application of the law or to take property of the U.S. contrary to its authority, they can be imprisoned for up to 20 years.

Speaking as someone who does not want him to run, I will still address your points. However, whether I vote for him or not, which is really the question, depends on the candidate the Dems put up should Trump win the nomination (which I do not think he will this time around).

1. He did not "take" classified documents, he retained them and fought with the Library of Congress as to whether he could continue holding on to them. The documents were not left in an unlocked room, that is a complete mischaracterization of the information released. They were stored in his resort in offices not accessible to anyone without authorization and he still has Secret Service personnel providing security to his Mara Lago resort. To say they were unprotected is a farce. Had this been the case, the FBI would have retrieved them a long time ago.

2. Maybe so and the facts are still coming out about that. Having dinner with antisemitic people does not make one antisemitic. You do know his son-in-law and his daughter are Jewish right? I assume you also noted his support to Israel as President right? The fact is, we have no idea how the dinner played out, what happened, what they may have talked about, etc. This is why it is important to get all the facts before judging people.

3. Trump, as usual, spoke irrationally and I personally think he never meant "suspend the Constitution" as he was referring to rules in general on the Twitter topic. He's frustrated about Twitter's actions to suppress information and rightfully so. However, the way he articulates his frustration and such is what I take issue with. Not because I believe he wants to do away with the Constitution. There are plenty of folks on the left who want to do away with all kinds of parts of the Constitution (Right bear arms, Electoral College, some even want to allow children and illegal immigrants to vote). What Trump said in typical Trump fashion, not separating and qualifying his statements, was stupid and yes, it is a big reason why I do not want him to run.

With that said, I will not be voting for him in the Primaries. The General election has yet to be determined, but a second term for Biden I believe will be much worse. Either way, we'd be screwed, which is why I say it is time for the American people to start promoting my generation (X) and end the Baby Boomer era of control over the office of the President (and several other significant positions). It's not their age I'm concerned about so much (although Biden absolutely looks like he doesn't know where he is or what he's doing), it's their ability to grasp today's issues and resonate better with the American people. Trump and Biden are both set in their ways and way too polarizing, so I have little desire to see either of them continue. There are better options out there. But if you think Trump or even Biden will "disqualify" themselves, I don't think you understand these people that well. In the end, even two new candidates will be turned into polarizing figures, but I didn't like either one of these two before they chose to run from President. Finally, if you're going to use those three points to call for Trump to disqualify himself, have you ever put thought to Biden's questionable actions and statements? They're essentially two peas in the same pod.

I am not out to make this another place that people can slam each other over who they feel is ideal.
However to address some of your concerns:
1. He took classified documents and stored them in unlocked rooms.
I am not sure if you have the unlocked rooms totally right, but they certainly were not in locked file cabinets that they should have been. His overall thought process on Classified, Sensitive and Official Documents makes one wonder if he even understands why documents are labeled at certain levels. If any one left the military did the same thing they would be recalled to Active Duty to face court martial and be serving jail time. So on that point alone, I feel he is not fit for serving in any office ever again.

2. He had dinner with two known anti-Semitic men.
This alone is only being shared in the news to create more news for him. Their has been many current and former elected officials that have had meetings with people that would be very questionable. Does that in itself disqualify them from serving in office? No I would say as unless you can connect this meeting to some type of promise or deal then it merely was just a meeting.

3. He is now talking about suspending the Constitution.
This one certainly is a disqualification for anyone that makes even comments to get rid of the Constitution. This document is the only thing keeping this nation from having a monarchy or being overthrown by some group.

I always tell people to vote to the person based on their beliefs and values and do not make a choice based on what your family, neighbors or friends tell you to do.

We are still a free nation and we still have the right to vote.

There is so much valuable experience in the military community that can be shared, comments, questions, and discussions should focus on military subjects. If a military member chooses to discuss politics on social media, there are guidelines which must be followed. Discussing politics on social media could lead to unintended violations of directives and regulations. Even though our 1st Amendment allows freedom of speech, members of the US military are limited to what they can discuss on a social media platforms.
Yes, it is understood that there are retired military and civilian personnel that participate in the RP forum. Having a variety of of participants could further lead to inappropriate and unlawful remarks in the forum between participants.
Discussing politics is a favorite pastime and can be fun and interesting; however, there are other platforms which are more suited to the topic. In my opinion, RP should be used to discuss military topics. RP is a place to share information and experiences between professional military members, retired personnel and affiliated civilian personnel. Also, to be honest, politics can be plain out boring sometimes.

I find it unreal that America seems to never learn from the destructive policies of the left. Every time we have had a Democrat Congress and President we take three steps back with our liberty.

I recently watched a video on YouTube regarding Cuba. America is in decline and if people don't wake up, there will be little difference between Cuba and America within the next generation. If another Dem gets elected, I will seriously consider making a change in my citizenship since I can't make changes on my own and becoming bitter is not profitable or healthy. Belize is looking much better thna America at this time.

The nastiest thing that we ever faced, has killed in the millions at a very fast rate.
This fact is not opening up for debate, take it from me Agent Orange is hate.

Its choking them all, big, small or tall, it's the worst thing man ever had to befall.
Can't argue that down to a basic brawl, clear as day to me, it's meant to appall.

Came around to us, oh so long ago, I'll spare you each hideous blow-by-bitter-blow.
Spiteful abhorrence, is this agent low, overcomes us too fast but for victims too slow.

Awful, appalling, and callous too, dangerous, evil but what can we do?
It's bitter, baneful, a cruel, boohoo too, dispensing it's toxic eye watering dew.

Deadly disdained , destructive, distressing, with this agent of death we shouldn't be messing.
Malice, meanness malicious and menacing, obnoxious odious offensive obsessing.

Fatal, foulness, frightful and greedy, bringing sure death to all of the needy.
Ghastly, grody, poisonous and speedy, painful perilous is this agent so seedy.

Horrifying, hostility, hatefulness that is marred, a killer of mankind, it's toxins bombard.
Hazardous horrible horrendous and hard, hideously leaving it's victim's soul-scarred.

Vindictive, vile, vulgar and vicious, seditious, venomous, the opposite of judicious.
Miserable, mortal, murderous flagitious, if you lived through an attack, I'd think it suspicious.

Icky, irritating, jeopardizing, and rotten, killed too many souls that should not be forgotten.
If hit-and-run with you, your life it will shorten, mean spirited notion and all quite ill-gotten.

Spiteful, selfish, shocking and sour, can kill hundreds of thousands in less than an hour.
Noxious, nauseating, nasty and dour, it's the killing of mankind, all just to grab power.

Repulsive, revolting, repellent with scorn, unwelcome and yucky it's dangers airborne.
A repugnant destroyer, and all without mourn, it murders the rose and hands you the thorn.

There's no chance to abstain, it's really insane, if you don't believe let's consider again.
All that encounter it somehow are slain , let's take a sad trip down memories pain.

Time to emerge from this era of dirge, remove all it's buddies so there's no upsurge.
Abhor and detest misery we need to purge, take our freedoms back from the 45th scourge.

Guess by now you know this old blow by blow, he was never a leader and always a foe.
Americas values pitchpoled quid-pro-quo, our Constitution degraded from real down to faux.

Vladimir and Kim-Jong-joyful, both gave him a boost, American trauma has come home to roost.

YES he should not be allowed to run in 2024. Trump is not qualified to run for POTUS. He violated the sacred oath that we all took to “defend and protect the constitution against all enemies both foreign & domestic”. As far as I am concerned he fermented sedition by sending his minions to march on the capital and did nothing to call of his dogs if war for hours. We he did he had the audacity to claim the election had been stolen (and still does) after admitting to his closest people that he had lost.
There is no proof anywhere of election impropriety. He is a narcissist who has never been able to admit defeat.
I voted for him in 2016, and his first 2 years I thought he was doing a good job. Unfortunately his true self came out that all he cares about is himself. He will throw anyone under the bus to save himself. If there is a god, may he/she help us if he is allowed to return to office.
We are is a sad place in American politics where we do not have enough politicians who place what is best for the USA front and center above being re-elected.
I have never voted for a democrat for POTUS, but I have more faith in Biden than I do in either Trump or DeSantis.
Between the treats of Russia to the east and China to the west we need a leader who can maintain strong relationships with our allies to stand against our adversaries. Trump would allow his buddy Putin free reign in Ukraine, he has made clear his feelings about NATO. Biden has done a good job of uniting NATO, it is unfortunate the the sanctions against Russia have not been more successful.

I have read many responses to this question and I am astounded at the political apathy shown by many members here. First of all, is this a question that should be asked or answered by some you who are currently serving? Traditionally our military has been non-political. When its members start actively expressing political viewpoints, unit cohesion begins to suffer. How would you trust a member with whom you serve but is of the opposite view as you and is very vocal about it?
Secondly, did any of you even bother to research this topic before posting your comments? What I have read so far can be summed-up as a shrill temper-tantrum. Boiler-plate statements may work well with those who support you but perhaps they should be supported with facts.
Thirdly, I noticed the shocking ignorance of how our Constitution actually works. All of you should have learned this in high school by now. I could spend a very long time discussing this one aspect but suffice it to say, please go back and reread the Constitution and what powers have been assigned to each of the branches of government.
I am old enough to remember the end of the Vietnam War and to have seen the slow polarization of our society. Since 1992, our nation has drifted apart politically. The passing of the WW2 threat since 1991(i.e., the Cold War). A generation of leaders (baby-boomers) have taken over the reins of government and is now slowly passing the torch to Generation X. The Cold War (with the USSR) was replaced by terrorists. For the next 30 yrs., we fought small-wars throughout the world. Now we face the rise of China and an ultra-nationalist in Russia (Putin). Yet we are bitterly divided at home.
For those of you who have read this far, I appreciate your patience. I would like to respond to the original question. I will address each point individually.
He took classified documents and stored them in unlocked rooms: Presidential Executive Order 13526 lays out the procedures by which National Security Information can be declassified. It would take too long to explain here, so I will list the relevant sections. If you wish to know more about this, I will provide the link below.

All Presidents and Vice-Presidents are allowed to review and declassify information, PROVIDED that the above-mentioned procedures have been followed. However, all presidents have utilized the “gray areas,” to obtain data beneficial to them(or whomever they support). If you make the case that Trump was in possession of classified documents AND that they were improperly stored, then that same accusation can be used against former POTUS, Obama and the current CIC as well as his VP. Yet this selective outrage is only against Donald Trump. Furthermore, if you are going to make this accusation, then you need to include former Secretary of State, Hilary R. Clinton, who had her own server in her home where she illegally stored CLASSIFIED data which had been hacked by Russia, China, North Korea, and God only knows who else.
He had dinner with two known antisemitic men. I have a few questions here. Who were these two men? Did he dine with them together or separately? How long ago did this occur? Did he endorse any of their actions?
Those who make these accusations forget that his son-in-law and daughter are both Jewish (the latter by conversion). When he won the presidency, PM Benjamin Netanyahu, was the 1st to congratulate him. Perhaps a case can be made of the sometimes, amateurish way Trump deals with political situations. Then again, he is an outsider and NOT a professional politician. That infuriates those in Congress (both Democrat and Republican). In the end, this accusation is just another weapons, his enemies use to tear him down.
He is now talking about suspending the Constitution. This absurdity was taken from a comments Trump made about Elon Musk releasing data that showed Twitter had suppressed the Hunter Biden laptop story. His exact words are posted below.
Some of the responses on this thread are childish and ill-informed. They ignore history and even reality. Under Trump, our economy was booming. We were, for the 1st time in 70+ years an oil EXPORTER. Putin was reminded that any shenanigans in Syria would be violently dealt with. We did kill 200 Russian troops who were shooting at our soldiers. We had a sort of détente with North Korea and the world was relatively stable.
It is strange that within 2 years, this nation is on the brink of WW3 and is lead by a party that is all-too-eager to start it.

1. Mishandling classified documents seems to be a common thread in DC. Subordinates and staff who work for POTUS, whatever the party, are clueless about what to do with said "pieces of paper". What is missing is an SOP for our civilian military authorities.

Thx for your question. I do not know of a single politician, much less a single human being, that does not have skeletons in his closet. If then I believe this and then choose someone as if I am more worthy, I speak from a point of judgement. I too then will be judged. Therefore, I cannot choose anyone from a moral point of view. Instead, I must decide from a policy point of view.

Trump has made countless mistakes, and there are many things personally that irritate me about his behavior and his character. If I were to base my sole decision upon those attributes, I might vote for someone else. He has accomplished a great deal for the citizens of this country. His policies---not all of them---worked! I enjoyed better VA benefits, lower taxes, border protection, lower food costs, lower gas prices, the non-weaponization of our law enforcement and even our soldiers (I felt safer and freer).

There are no perfect candidates, and the greatest benefit we as a country experience is the freedom to think and choose as individuals. Group-think is a great tragedy: A soldier in once-Communist Romania was thrown into prison for his misdeeds alongside a pastor incarcerated for his faith. Naturally the pastor asked the soldier if he was a believer. But when the soldier replied, tears welled up in the pastor's eyes---the soldier saying, "I will believe if I have orders to believe." That is perhaps the saddest thing I have ever heard in my life---a man who was no longer able to think for himself.

I respect any man's choices if they are his, even if I may not agree with them; but a man who cannot make a choice of his own free will, is already dead in his soul.

I voted for Trump in both elections (I didn't vote for him in the '16 primary (Jeb). I don't think he'll win the primary in '24. Personally, I support Nikki Haley. However, if DJT does win the primary and runs...I'll be in a quandary. I will not "not vote", I will not vote for Joe or Kamala or whomever they put forward...I will not throw away a vote to a 3d party. Will be a difficult decision.

Politics are Politics, old men create wars that young men and women must fight. The commanders and chief must lead by example, because the private and sp4 may never get a chance to know him or her up close and personal. All we really know is policy that are put that effect our every day military/veteran lives. He is not my favorite candidate, but I respect the office of the President. My firm belief is that any leader bad or good is chosen by God. Although you maybe active duty or veteran the quote un quote way to make change is by your vote (I didn't vote until after the military). Sometimes we forget that there are 3 branches when laws are made and the President is the face we see more frequently, but keep in mind he really doesn't act alone. No I would not vote for Donald Trump, because when I raised my right hand I pledged to protect against foreign and domestic enemies. I worked down the street from the Capital and I had to work on January 6th. It was the first time since 9/11 that I felt somewhat fearful for democracy. I actually thought the rioters were trying to take over the government. I had to drive through the mess that was taking place normally I would drive to Union Station and park, but I instead drove and parked at my job sight. What is upsetting is the President could have calmed the crowd. I have worked through many protest, but none were as violent as Jan 6th. I don't know how many of you realize or even care that Jan 6th was the first time that the Confederate flag was flown in the Capital!! Anyone who took the military oath to defend should have been appalled! I am not only appalled because I am a African American woman, but because I am a United States Veteran.

I became a Republican with Reagan and suffered through the "thousand points of light" and then came the Bush/Cheney comedy team of stupid and dangerous. Trump was the last straw for me. When looking back at my support of Ron Paul and the Tea Party and Oath Keepers, I realized that our system of government is not suitable for libertarian ideologies: in order for them to work, we'd need to strip down the entire system and build something new.

But our system is what made us the greatest power on earth, so why should anyone want to tear it up? If you want to make America great by looking backwards, then fine: Let's look at things like Unions, which brought about laws that protect workers so that most industries don't even need unions much anymore. Taxes, where the corporations paid for the system of laws that they could rely on to protect their interests, educated workforce to power their engines, an efficient and reliable transportation network to move their goods, a strong military to provide international stability, and a social security system to allow workers some life after work (since the previously ubiquitous private pensions were all eliminated).

The steady march of lobbyists from corporate America combined with the "revolving door" of corporate shills moving into and out of senior government regulatory bodies see regulation as an expense to be minimized regardless of the cost to innocent life. Sure, some regulation may go too far, but ask any company which regulation to keep, and they'll tell you none, because preserving human life or health is not part of their profit calculation. Who cares about Monsanto's evil tactics to bankrupt small farmers under the guise of IP protection over a product that we now are pretty sure causes cancer (even though the Europeans banned it decades ago), and now can be found in nearly ever box of children's breakfast cereal. Who cares that we face chronic diseases in record and increasing numbers, likely caused by other changes in our common environment, like the additives we allow in wheat (again, banned long ago by Europe), the inability to reduce pollution, and the constant deluge of sugar-laden processed foods. The pharmaceutical companies come up with new "treatments" but never cures. When's the last time you heard of a "cure" for anything? There's no money in cures, is there...

The only time corporations support regulation is when it is so expensive that only the largest can afford it, using the power of government by the people as a bludgeon to force out smaller competitors without the resources to meet the rules. Consolidation, merger, acquisition: our choices are becoming an illusion as power is further concentrated among fewer entities.

At this point in history, nothing the Democrats do is more dangerous than the Republicans who are working incessantly at increasing Corporate power (Citizens United), cutting back regulations and protections for otherwise powerless citizens, and dismantling the systems that ensure our democracy is fair (gerrymandering). They are grabbing as much power as they can by any means necessary because they know in a head-to-head contest for the soul of the American people, minus all the dis-information and BS they promote to cloud the water, the new Republican vision loses every time, hands down. The next generation of voters will ensure their demise, so they are hard at work now to minimize the possibility of having a government system that truly represents the will of the people in favor of one that pushes corporate power to the top.

Someday I hope to be a Republican again, if they can ever restore some honor and truth to their ideology. However, it's more likely that Trump's bewildering level of incompetence, unnecessary belligerence toward our foreign partners and their citizens, blatant indifference to the fate of common Americans, and elevation of "taunting" over dialogue as the preferred method of communication has sealed the fate of a Republican party long in decline, probably since McCarthy. It may be easier for a new party to emerge.

What I find truly discouraging is the large swath of historically Republican voters who find themselves unable to switch their vote, as if it was some kind of betrayal of a longtime family member. Their lack of courage, even despite the obvious mean-spirited, anti-Constitutional and nearly tyrannical activities we have seen over the past 10 years, starting with the unjustifiable Iraq war, through the blocking of Obama's legitimate Supreme Court nominations, the endless onslaught against Obamacare with no practical alternatives, and culminating with Trump's gutting of oversight bodies and consensual disregard for principled governance, shows how so many voters think of our country's future more like a football game than a serious civic responsibility.

It's not about your "team" winning: it's about the ability of our country to survive for many generations to come.

Trump has his faults but never forget, what they do is they use someone you don't like to implement policies that will affect everyone. Are you prepared to be targeted the same way and using the same tactics that are used against your enemies? I hope so because that's what happens. You'll agree to it only because you don't like the person until it happens to you. It happens all the time. That's how it's done. You just keep that same energy when it's your turn.

2.) Disqualification from Public Office Under the 14th Amendment

Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment was originally intended to keep former Confederate officials from gaining power in the reconstructed government following the Civil War.

Known as the "disqualification clause," this section was fairly obscure until January 6, 2021, when supporters of then-President Donald Trump stormed the United States Capitol building.

The Fourteenth Amendment is better known for protecting civil rights. It grants citizenship to all people born in the United States, guarantees equal protection of privileges and immunities of citizens, and requires due process of law.

What does the Constitution say about insurrection?

Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment prohibits anyone who has previously taken an oath of office (Senators, Representatives, and other public officials) from holding public office if they have "engaged in insurrection or rebellion" against the United States. This means, at least theoretically, that politicians who participate in or encourage a rebellion against the government can not only be removed from office but prevented from holding state and federal offices in the future. However, how disqualification works under the 14th Amendment has never been clear.

Could the disqualification clause prevent Donald Trump from running for president in 2024?

But this is separate from disqualification under the 14th Amendment. Under Sections 3 and 5 of the Fourteenth Amendment, Congress could bar someone from holding office. But unlike an impeachment conviction, that decision could be overturned by the courts. Most importantly, under the 14th Amendment, disqualification requires only a simple majority vote, not the two-thirds vote needed to convict during an impeachment trial.

Here's a look at how the law works:

How would a law used against mobsters apply to Trump and his allies?

The federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act originated in 1970 as a tool to fight organized crime. The law enabled prosecutors to target people in positions of authority within a criminal organization, not just lower-level people doing the dirty work.

But its use was never meant to be limited exclusively to organized crime. The U.S. Supreme Court noted in a 1989 opinion that the law was drafted "broadly enough to encompass a wide range of criminal activity, taking many different forms and likely to attract a broad array of perpetrators."

Within a few years of the federal law taking effect, states began passing their own RICO laws. Generally speaking, RICO laws allow prosecutors to charge multiple people who commit separate crimes while working toward a common goal.

What does Georgia's RICO law say?

Georgia's RICO Act, adopted in 1980, makes it a crime to participate in, acquire or maintain control of an "enterprise" through a "pattern of racketeering activity" or to conspire to do so. It's important to note that the alleged scheme does not have to have been successful for a RICO charge to stick.

An "enterprise" can be a single person or a group of associated individuals with a common goal. "Racketeering activity" means to commit, attempt to commit — or to solicit, coerce or intimidate someone else to commit — one of more than three dozen state crimes listed in the law. At least two such acts are required to meet the standard of a "pattern of racketeering activity," meaning prosecutors have to prove that a person has engaged in two or more related criminal acts as part of their participation in an enterprise to be convicted under RICO.

The U.S. Supreme Court has said that federal RICO allegations must show continuity, that is to say a series of related underlying acts over an extended period of time, not just a few weeks or months. But the Georgia Supreme Court has made clear there is no such requirement in the state law.

Why use the RICO statute?

"I'm a fan of RICO," Willis said during a news conference in August 2022 as she announced a RICO indictment against more than two dozen alleged gang members.

Willis has said jurors want to know all the facts behind an alleged crime and that a RICO indictment enables prosecutors to provide a complete picture of all the alleged illegal activity. A narrative introduction allows prosecutors to tell a story that can include a lot of detailed information that might not relate to specific crimes but is relevant to the broader alleged scheme.

RICO charges also carry a heavy potential sentence that can be added on top of the penalty for the underlying acts.

In Georgia, it's a felony conviction that carries a prison term of five to 20 years; a fine of $25,000 or three times the amount of money gained from the criminal activity, whichever is greater; or both a prison sentence and a fine.

If he had the best interests of the country and the Republican Party, sure, he should bow out. But Trump rarely seems to have the interests of others at the top of his agenda, and he is not going to disqualify himself, for obvious reasons.

And, in any case, the real problem isn't simply Trump. It also involves mainstream media. {The now-disgraced former honcho at CBS, Les Monves, was on the record about what Trump's run meant for CBS, saying, "... you know—it may not be good for America, but it’s damn good for CBS."

As for the three issues listed? ...
1. Maj McLaughlin's characterization {below} of Trump having 'retained' rather than having taken the documents misses the point. Taken or retained would apply to both President Biden and former VP Pence, neither of whom has had charges brought. Why? Because the issue isn't taken or retained. It's clearly obstruction of justice, which then demonstrates the illegal intent that makes his continued possession of them a separate charge.
2. As for who Trump dines with? Not an issue. His anti-Semitism? A serious question. But we're talking about a guy who authorized the move of the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem. I suspect he did it in the hope of garnering more of the Jewish vote. But it was an unnecessary and inflammatory move in an always-hot region for a Commander-in-Chief to make.
3. Unlike Maj. McLaughlin's characterization of Trump's notion of suspending the Constitution as something Trump "never meant," I can't divine Trump's mind or intent. All I can say is that, while our government and the military has made some questionable calls over the decades, the one thing that has stayed with me since I enlisted back in 1967 is a simple phrase -- "support and defend the Constitution." No one who was, is, or wants again to be the POTUS has any business in any context of uttering anything about suspending the Constitution.

Aside from the three issues noted, the one I find the most serious is the attempt to overturn the election, not just with a string of frivolous law suits, but organizing slates of alternate electors, trying to pressure election officials into 'finding' votes, and ... and as much or more than anything else ... sitting in front of the TV and watching his supporters storm the Capitol and refusing to call them off for hours. And when he finally made a first effort at intervening -- more than three hours after his protesters first got inside the wire -- he did it with a Tweet!?!

So, let Trump keep his hat in the ring. But also let what our Republican Governor here in Vermont told Trump's supporters as he stirred things up to try to steal the election: YOU'RE BEING PLAYED. ... On that note, since we live in a hyper-polarized time, let me also acknowledge that I've voted for Democrats, Republicans, and Independents ... even if it was more often than I'd like voting for the lesser of two. Speaking of which, I'm still trying to figure out how it came to pass that, back in 2016, it was the two least trusted among all the candidates from either major party who ended up with their party's nomination?!?! {That year, voting in my 12th Presidential election, I voted for a 3rd Party candidate for POTUS.}

IN SHORT, it's 'we the people' who get to elect the President. So let Trump run. But then, if you're looking to vote for him, ask yourself long and hard whether that seems like something that someone who took an oath "to support and defend the Constitution" should be doing.

Just read all the books from the high-ranking people who worked for Trump. Almost none had anything good to say about him. His presidency operated in chaos and accomplished little. Biden is old, but he has run a competent and professional administration. As far as the 14th Amendment goes, the language is very specific as to who it applies. If you read Section 3, there is no mention of it applying to the President, only to the "electors of the President or Vice-President." Do you think Trump voted for Trump or Biden?

Believe me, I was a Republican for 52 years and I am certainly no left leaning Biden supporter, Trump is the worst president this country has ever had! He was absolutely responsible for stoking the fires in the attack on the capitol on Jan 6, 2021!
He is also responsible for much of the American division that we see today, in my opinion. We need a President that brings people together, not at each others throats.
We always seem to find ourselves voting for the lesser of the two evils. As a moderate, I sincerely hope that someone else gets the republican nomination. I truly wish that the democrat party would nominate someone other that Biden because I don't think that he is mentally capable of carry out the duties of POTUS. If our choice is between Biden and Trump again, that will be a sad day for all Americans. Lawyers for former President Donald Trump filed a brief with the Colorado state Supreme Court this week arguing that a constitutional provision that would disallow him from being able to run for the presidency again in 2024 should be ignored because, as they put it, he never made an oath, as president, to “support” the Constitution.

The argument is one of semantics, as the president of the United States is sworn in through a different oath than members of Congress or other government officials.

Article II of the U.S. Constitution requires presidents-elect to read an oath promising to “preserve, protect and defend” the document as they are being sworn into office.

Six residents in Colorado sued to have Trump barred from being able to appear on the state ballot next year as a candidate for president, citing Section 3 of the 14th Amendment — sometimes known as the insurrectionist clause — as their basis for doing so. That provision states that no person can be elected to any office within the United States if they have served in a position where they “previously [took] an oath … to support the Constitution” while subsequently engaging in “insurrection or rebellion” or giving aid or comfort to those who have engaged in such activities.

Because the language of the amendment says “support” rather than any of the words used in the presidential oath of office, Trump’s lawyers contend the provision doesn’t apply to him. The former president’s lawyers claim this difference in the language was “purposefully” created by the authors of the amendment.

Colorado Supreme Court Agrees to Hear 14th Amendment Case to Disqualify Trump

A district court judge last week ruled Trump was an insurrectionist but could still run for president.

Colorado’s state Supreme Court has agreed to hear an appeal of a recently decided case involving former President Donald Trump’s eligibility to run for president again under a constitutional provision that forbids former lawmakers and government officials who engaged in insurrection from seeking public office of any kind.
The state’s highest court issued its order approving the writ of certiorari on Tuesday. Both sides in the matter are now required to appear before the court on December 6 to present arguments defending their positions.

If the court rules in favor of plaintiffs, Trump’s name would not appear on either the primary election ballot, nor the general election ballot, in next year’s presidential race. Colorado is not necessarily a swing state — Trump lost to President Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election by more than 13 points — but the outcome of the case, if Trump is indeed removed, could inspire other states to take similar actions against the former president.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has introduced budget options that might drastically reduce your veteran’s disability benefits.

First, the VA may stop making IU payments to veterans age 67 or older, which is the full retirement age for social security benefits.

I realize that I will have negative feedback regardless how I might answer this question, but NO I do not believe he should be running for President. Chaos seems to follow him in everything that he has done. He has been accused of crimes that are yet to be adjudicated so I will give him a pass on those. However, the action, or inaction, he took during the January 6 insurrection is unforgiveable. He not only encouraged the act, but he sat idle for hours allowing a mob to attack our CAPITAL, injuring many and causing the death of some. Choose your poison, they're both old (though one is much less cognitively capable), they both had issues with holding classified information in an insecure manner, they're both ethically challenged, etc., etc. I didn't vote for Trump in either 2016 or 2020 - I didn't vote top of the ticket in either election because both candidates sucked. But I will probably vote for him this time simply because by almost any objective measure we were better off under Trump than we have been with the Biden administration. If RFK Jr. has a legitimate shot, I'll vote for him. I'd love to see Tulsi Gabbard on an independent ticket but I know she won't right now.

4. Ask yourself if you were better off under a Trump Administration with safer borders, lower taxes, lower crime rates, more affordable mortgage rates for home buyers, lower gas prices, spending less at the grocery store, a stronger military, and energy independence.
Or Joe Biden with open borders, higher gas prices, higher mortgage rates, higher food costs, weaponized DOJ, suing states that try to protect their own borders, canceling oil leases and buying oil from not so friendly countries and so much more.

Absi we need Trump to both run and win the election otherwise this country is lost forever. The economic conditions of this country have gone to hell under Treasonous Biden and his democratic cronies by opening the border and inviting illegals to enter this country by the millions not Only crossing our southern border and now our northern border but also sending planes to pick them up by the thousands and deliver them to various cities around the country and yes Biden and his staff have admitted doing so, Biden has also sold lands next to our strategic military bases to China, Russia and Iran just to name a few. Biden has received monies from Russia and China through his dons dealings with said countries( fact).
