I'm not sure if the AGSUs can be worn at the ball. Asked my 1SG but I'd like the input of RallyPoint as well. If so, are there bow ties for the uniform?

It's my understanding that the AGSUs are not a dress uniform they are a garrison uniform, kind of like the USMC khakis. But, the Commander is the final decision maker for the uniform of the ball

By the books you would wear the ASU with bow tie to formal events. This again though falls under commander’s discretion. So you might run it by then if the AGSU is ok to wear if you do not have the ASU.

They are, by definition, not a dress uniform. The dress blues (current ASU) would be the more appropriate thing to wear.
Having said that, even the Marines allow the service uniform at the ball for the few that didn't have their blues, but we've all been issued them, so that shouldn't be a variable....

SFC, the AGSU Implementation and Transisition Strategy dated 01 June, 2020 states in paragraph 7 "The Dress AGSU". Would that constitute it being a dress uniform? I'll make this it's own question as well, SFC

CPL(P) (Join to see) - back when we had class A's (the green uniform before the ASU) we would put a bowtie on the greens, white shirt, remove DUI's, etc.. Same as the ASU. Sounds like they're opening up the possibility for doing that in the future. If they do that , it makes me wonder if the blues will go back to being optional and not issued...
