Should i get the COVID-19 vaccine before Basic training?

Hey guys, so i ship out in like 28 days to basic training.... I saw that the pentagon is dropping the mask requirement for fully vaccinated personnel. Should i get the vaccine before or can i get it at basic training when i go through reception? i know mask aren't that big of a deal but it would be nice to not have to wear it while at basic training. Your feedback is much appreciated!!

I definitely would. The Army is starting to reduce quarantine times and open privileges for r vaccinated Soldiers. For instance, here if you are vaccinated you can get 24 hours access to the gym.

Unless you know for a fact that you will receive other than Moderna, you are too late to be fully vaccinated by ship date.

Everyone reacts differently to the covid vaccine. Ie... I got mine first shot gave me a 24 hour rash on my arm . The second shot I was down for the count for 48 hours with 102 fever mostly and couple other things.
And 28 days is cutting it close for getting shots
Pfizer is 21 days between each
Moderna 28
And does not take full effect for at least 2 weeks
If they allow you to do it sure just be prepared for these things
I would speak to whom is in charge of you right now ie recurtier would most likely get you the quickest answer unless you are already at a unit ( reserves) ask them

I would as you may forfeit your leave or other privileges until you are fully vaccinated. As well start working out - even with just 28 days try to get to 100 push ups and sits up.

I would say if you can get the pfizer or Johnson and Johnson get vaccinated before you ship. If you only have access to moderna wait to be vaccinated. There's no point in getting one shot now and trying to get a second moderna while at basic.

I would advise getting it before you ship out. Everyone reacts to it differently. I had the two shot Pfizer. The first shot was a soreness in that arm for like 2-3 days and a feeling like being drained, having no energy for like a week afterwards. The second shot was the complete reverse. I was sore in that arm for like half a day and then found my energy level through the roof.

Vaccinated are going to have more tangible benefits than those not vaccinated and being able to shed that mask which is a pain even without going through training is one of them.

J&J was super easy and I had no side effects at all.

You'd have to do it now with either shot to get both doses done. But it will be offered at reception at basic.

I would ask your recruiter before you do anything. I wouldn't want that to be something that becomes a problem at MEPS later and you'll have to bring that Immunization so that it could be added to your med pros. It may or may not be a hassle but your recruiter would have the best info.

I would, but there’s no guarantee that the shot would be helpful to you. You leave in 28 days, how quickly can you make an appointment and then have to wait the 2 or 3 weeks for the second shot? If the turnaround time is quick enough, do it, if not, then I’d hate to go to basic with only one of two shots. I don’t know if you’d get any benefit to actually having the shot at basic, uniformity is key, and if one’s wearing a mask, everyone’s wearing a mask. However, getting the shot now could pay dividends later when there are special exceptions to those who are already vaccinated.

If you do get it, the only one that's fully approved is the Cominarty which carries a liability but it's not available yet.THIS IS IMPORTANT! The other pfizer one is still under EUA which means you're still participating in the medical trials that don't end til 2023. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE THIS ONE. So if you don't mind being part of the clinical trials, have at it. You need to ask questions like what are the long term effects of the vaccine? From what I've read the VIRUS is a computer generated model because they haven't been able to isolate it yet and the vaccine is a computer model that was created in very little time, 3 weeks or something crazy like that. All the animals died during testing. Besides if you ever by chance do get it, your chances of survival is like 99% vs having other debilitating adverse reactions from the vaccines. Do your research on Israel, the most vaccinated country yet most of their people are getting reinfected with covid. Get on Telegram and start doing some research.
