Should I have my rack like this or stick to normal 3 row, 3 ribbon rack?

I was informed to do my rack like this for my DA photo since my lapel basically covers up one of my ribbons. Does this look good or should I stick to the normal 3 row and 3 ribbon rack??

From what I can see thru the plastic bag - ribbon alignment to the left of the wearer is uneven.

Asking Rally Point’s opinion is a good step. Giving RP a decent photo to view would be another good step.

Rule of thumb, and I believe it is also in the book, at the row where the lapel covers 50% or more of a ribbon when worn, then you start aligning to the side, starting with the one that would have been 50% covered.

If the first ribbon on the second row is covered, what you have is fine. However, if you decide to go the 3 rack/ribbon route, ensure your ARCOM ribbon is centered. Check out my ribbons on my profile picture, I got the rack that had everything shifted because my lapels.

As someone with about the same rack and a pair of senior space wings myself, I feel your pain. It looks like 3x3 would work (I agree with the 50% rule of thumb). Or perhaps exercise the rarely seen 4 wide option, then right justify and it'll bring your space badge down a bit so they are less obscured. I will admit a bit of hypocrisy though. The last big board I made up my ASUs for (other than sponsoring) I asked a former Old Guard guy who set up the SMA's uniform for the DA photo we see everyday. He advised 3 across, centered and spaced to give every bit of the prominence to the ribbons (even though I had so few). Good luck with whichever way you go!
