Should I just accept it? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/should-i-just-accept-it

A year ago I submitted a volunteer Recruiting packet, awaiting a decision from branch I waited and waited and nothing until I called My branch Manager. I finally was able to get him to release me to go to USAREC. So I waited a couple of day and I finally got a email saying I've been released and will get a school date in the next 2 months. Two months went by and I heard nothing so I called the special assignments NCO and asked about my packet and he informed me that he sent it up but did not receive anything back. He had me wait and he emailed someone at USAREC. So he cc'd me on the email that he sent to USAREC and they informed him that since my packet is a year old that I am no longer qualified. Then he emailed me back and said that he will put me in as a DA select. I am a little confuse because I did get accepted during the year my packet was submitted but heard nothing. So my question to you is, is this fair? Should I just take the DA Select? Anything will help. I would recommend that if you are still interested, that you accept the DA appointment. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Thu, 20 Aug 2015 00:05:53 -0400 2015-08-20T00:05:53-04:00 Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 20 at 2015 7:32 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/should-i-just-accept-it?n=904291&urlhash=904291

I cant speak to speficics, but unless there is somwhere you want to go... You can try to reapply for the program, or you can take the DA select. It depends mainly on what you want to do.

Personally I have applied for special programs with very mixed results. It is hard to get into and I don't even mean from the meeting standards side of it. There are some intentional and some unintentional roadblocks that make the path very hard. Part of me thinks these are to make sure you are actually committed to the program. Another part is that communities don't want to lose people. Finally, I think we are just pretty inefficient with some things as a government in general.

I know this isn't the best answer but take it for what it's worth and if you want to know about any of my personal experiences feel free to PM me.
