Should I reclass to 11B, 12B, or 35L? Also what is it like to be an MOS T in OSUT?

I am reclassing from 25C and want to go into one of these STAR MOSs for promotion. I was told going combat arms is the way to go if you want to make the Army a career. However I am taking 35L into consideration due to it being a interest of mine. Also what is it like being an MOS T in OSUT? I've seen a lot of mixed answers but mostly from years ago.

As a MOS-T sometimes you'll get lucky and get sent to a National Guard MOS-Q course.

I think it really just depends what job really interests you since all three of them are so different. Do as much research as you can, find out the pros and cons to both. If you do end up going to an MOS-Q course prepare for a lot of Course material to memorize, a lot of test and practical excercises. MOS-Q covers all the same material as regular AIT except that it's usually only half the time, so you're cramming all of that information in a short amount of time. Good luck!!

I say go with 12B. But then, I am being a little biased as I used to be one.

11B but go to Bragg, Campbell or Drum so you can get some real light experience and then move on to another duty position. I re-classed to infantry from the reserves and go sent to a CAV unit on ATGM; although, being on an ATGM makes me more versatile I lack the skills need to serve on the line. If you chose those duty stations I mentioned you will gain the experience needed from the bottom up and will be fully intergraded within a year and be able to lead. OSUT doesn't believe in MOS T.

35L !!! 12B and 11B will get you NOTHING in the civilian word. It is not a hard skill. Go 35L all the way

As someone who is both 11B and 35L qualified I can say without question that I enjoyed my time in both MOS's. I am now a 351L (the warrant officer version of 35L). So being an infantryman made me who I am today. It was a time in my military career I will never forget as I made numerous friends and fought in combat under that MOS. That being said, 11B is fine if you are not looking for any direct translation to the civilian sector. In contrast, being a 35L will give you a TOP SECRET w/SCI clearance, investigative skills, liaison skills, and will allow you to more easily transition into many different types of civilian jobs (to include criminal investigator/special agent or a civilian member of the intelligence community). There are also countless high paying contractor and/or civilian positions you can get with your experience as a CI agent (or just because you have a high clearance). So at the end of the day, it really depends on what *you* are looking for. Only you can answer that question. On a side note though, I believe the bonuses for CI agent (35L) are very high right now.

ok - a lot depends on these few questions:
1. Do you want to be a career soldier?
2. Are you looking for transferable skills?
3. What makes you happy?
4. where do you see yourself in 10 years?

If you want to be career, then Combat arms is the answer, you will have higher opportunities to advance your career, get to do some really cool stuff, like go camping and shoot a lot of bullets, and play in the mud. but you will also spend a lot of time waiting around, area beautification, sweeping motorpools, maintaining vehicles etc etc.

if you want transferable skills, then 35L is the way to go, but your opportunities for advancement are much more difficult - not sure if the army still does the point system for SGT and SSG, but the points were always capped at 798 in those types of MOS's or I will use the term seven ninety never.

which of these would make you happy?

if you see yourself as a Platoon Sergeant in ten years, then go combat arms, if you see yourself on the outside in ten years, take the marketable skills MOS
