Should I report my ex, who is a SSG, for saying that he hopes my daughter dies in a combat zone in Afghanistan?

My ex said he hopes my daughter who is a 31 bravo dies in a combat zone in Afghanistan and he is a staff sergeant in the army should I report that ?

There isn't anything for you to report. No laws were broken in his statement, no matter how mean.

Do you have to maintain some relationship with this person for any reason? You may file a TRO or temporary restraining order. You may do this yourself, find your local judiciary website then search for TRO form, fill it out and follow the instructions on the form or site to file it.

I understand why you don't like what he said but nothing he did or said is illegal. Unless there is more to it you have nothing to report. No crime was committed and the UCMJ wasn't violated.

There is always more sides to a story, like what may have provoked him? Yeah I know no excuse but one should always peel back the onion and understand the whole story. That being said verbiage like that coming from a NCO deserves attention from his or her chain of Command (comments or actions unbecoming a Noncommissioned Officer) Article 15 UCMJ.

Not really unless his "hope" manifests into an overt act on his part that may result in a degree of jeopardy beyond that expected of a combat theater of operations. If there was a crime in the US against being an a**hole, I'd have been in prison a long time ago.

He's guilty of being an asshole but that's about it. When your daughter returns from down range, tell her what he said and she'll go over and beat his ass like a wet puppy.
