Should leaders have more Emotional Intelligence training?

On the one hand, I believe it can be very helpful... on the other, I question the sheer volume of stuff amount of stuff soldiers have to learn these days that doesn't center around the need to shoot, move and communicate.

I think for Senior Leaders, this would be extremely helpful. Team, Section, Squad Leaders have to focus on a lot already and emotional intelligence may be asking too much at that level, but when a troop needs to talk to someone about something serious and needs an empathetic ear in their leadership (not including chaplains which are advisors not deciders) then this training would be a great benefit.

SGT Private RallyPoint Member That topic is already covered in MRT, part of the Self-Regulation Competency. And since we get MRT once a quarter, plus every time we PCS to a new duty station, I think that's more than enough training.

This sounds like part of the PC movement. Heh, I want to see someone explain the Stock Market using Emotional Intelligence. They are either a very rich person or it will be entertaining reading.
