Obama will not endorse a Democrat Presidential Nominee but he is attacking Republicans ad nausea & demeaning and degrading their ideas.

U.S. President Barack Obama ripped Republican presidential candidates as being against American workers in a speech at the Greater Boston Labor Council's Labor Day Breakfast Monday. Obama's Labor Day speech to a room of about 765 people criticized GOP leaders for espousing strategies he said would hurt the middle class.

The president joked he was "so glad I’m not on the ballot" in November, but went on to slam GOP leaders for their stances.

"Now we're starting to hear a lot about middle-class values," he said. "Some folks seem confused about what exactly that means." Obama then went on to list details in support of his economic positions but later returned to criticizing Republican presidential hopefuls.

Without specifically referencing him by name, the president ripped Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker for his comments about a plan for combating the Islamic State group earlier in the year, in which he said, "If I can take on 100,000 [union] protesters, I can do the same across the globe," CNN reported.

"So one candidate, he is bragging about how he destroyed collective bargaining rights in his state," Obama told the union crowd, which predictably responded with boos. "And says that busting unions prepares him to fight ISIL." The crowd responded with laughter.

Until someone else is elected he acts as the de facto head of party for the Democrats, as the senior ranking Democrat holding office.

As such, the R v D debate is well within his purview.

Obama's not going to hitch is wagon to any Dem candidate until there is a nominee. He can berate Republicans because they set themselves up to be slammed and it cost him nothing politically

He has no horse in this race, so his "attacks" are usually responses to the intense criticism the GOP candidates are using as a rallying point for support. When you've got nothing intelligent to say, just insult President Obama, and you're bound to win the hearts and minds of your Republican base.

Up until around a year and a half ago Obama still blamed Bush for his lack of success. He has never had diplomatic talks with Republicans. It's his Chicago politics, make the other people look bad to cover your inadequacies.

Sgt Tom Cunnally - Sergeant; Personally I'd prefer to see the President of the United States of America be "above party politics" the way that the Founding Fathers "originally intended".

However, that simply isn't going to happen (and hasn't been happening since [roughly] 1790).

Since it isn't going to be happening, I can live with "The party I belong to supports 'X' while the other party opposes it.".

Endorsing/condemning specific candidates, on the other hand, isn't something that I'm overly comfortable with.

This is what Obama does. He hasn't been a real POTUS, he has acted like a candidate and has campaigned nearly his whole time in office. Nothing new here.

Last time Obama endorsed candidates the Dems lost the Senate to Reps. So probably not the best idea.
