Should people get involved in politics? If so, why?

IMO, Yes. It is our responsibility as Citizens to stay engaged in some shape or form to better shape the long-term outcome and goals of the country. How far involved one gets, is entirely up to the individual of course.

This is sort of like asking, "Should people breathe? If so, why?".

It is better that you breathe on your own. If you don't, then someone else will try to do it for you until you are written off as a lost cause and they leave you to die and focus on the interests of someone else.

Fine, I'll be that guy.
Everyone should have the right to involve themselves in politics. Everyone should have a say in how this country is run, and how it should affect their lives.

But would I be upset if a lot of the people that are participating would stop? Nope. Am I glad that uneducated people are less likely to vote? Hell no. I'm uneducated. Would you like me to be elected into office? If I chose not to watch the news, keep a job, or pay taxes, would you want me even voting?

If you dont involve yourself in politics on any level then there is no accountability for the elected officials. More should get involved to get rid of the "politricks"

I know a few people who do not even vote. But I kind of respect their reasoning, they say they are too busy to keep informed and don't intend to get involved until they don't like what is personally happened to them.

I have more respect for non-voters than the people who vote straight party and their reasoning is "my grandparents voted _________, my parents voted __________, so I vote _________." But they really have no idea where there party actually stands on the issues.
