Should The Afghan Who Saved Marcus Luttrell Receive Asylum in US?

Should Mohammad Gulab, the Afghan who help Marcus Luttrell, the lone survivor, receive asylum in the United States. He is currently in an undisclosed country outside of Afghanistan awaiting a formal decision.

I think it would be great. This is a special case that should be treated as such and not serve as an 'avenue' for many other wannabes

I vote yes. We are granting asylum to illegal aliens (as a reward for their breaking the law and sneaking into our country) ... Why would we not grant asylum to someone who actually did something for this country?

Absolutely! This man did something for the United States Military which he did not have to do. He jeopardized himself and his whole village.

I am sure that there are many others in similar situations that should be authorized the same.

I would much rather see this than allowing a flood gate of people who want to infect our nation and destroy the economy.

Of course, he knowingly endangered his and his families lives to help one of ours out. Regardless of the 'just tribal custom' or anything else, he made a decision to help an American, that he knew could result in horrible repercussions against him. Besides... he's done more for America with that act than at least half the people who get Visas.

My inclanation is to say yes, as I think he deserve it.....however, I don't think the reason should be becuase he saved Marcus Luttrell.....rather, the reason should be he saved an American Service Member and that should be enough. Who it is doesn't matter. However, if we are not going to grant asylum to other Afghan men / women who have helped service members, then why this man? Is it because he saved Marcus Luttrell??? If that is the case, then I think we are sending the wrong message to all the other service members out there saying that if you don't become famous, then you life isn't as worth it.

****I am in no way trying to belittle or take away from Marcus' service, merely trying to say that all should be treated equally.****

Ok so let me make this VERY clear. If we FAIL (and in my opinion we already have) in this we will likely NOT see this again. By that I mean This should have happened for this man LONG ago (FAIL) But if it does not happen what reason would indigenous people have for risking EVERYTHING to help? Further I think we are more likely to see them act in the opposite direction. Once again this is my opinion but I feel strongly about it.

Most definitely! He not only risked his life to save Marcus Luttrell, but stayed true to his cultural laws regarding protecting guests in his home.

This should be a no-brainer.
