No real reason to change the status quo. At least in the way I understand them. For example, would the combined service perform training and support for popular forces like the Army Special Forces? Would the combined service focus only on direct action such as the Navy Seals? Yes, it&#39;s useful for them to coordinate and cooperate, but I think that something would be lost. Isnt there a Delta unit that&#39;s combined?? I ask because I don&#39;t know. The closest I ever came to special ops is that I watched it on tv Response by SGT Jim Arnold made Aug 11 at 2017 5:48 PM 2017-08-11T17:48:24-04:00 2017-08-11T17:48:24-04:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 2823437 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>They sort of are an independent branch of the military in practice. All SOF fall under USSOCOM which coordinates their global activities and a large part of their funding. However, the individual services still need organic SOF assets to accomplish their mission. That&#39;s why SOCOM stops just short of being an actual independent branch. It is very important, not every mission is a good fit for every unit. This is really a great conversation to have over a few beers. However, it is a great conversation, but it is not one for CNN they don&#39;t have the clearance! It&#39;d take forever to add new operators to have to go to all those skill courses.
