"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get ‪‎hurt feelings‬.

Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

No. Those who have deployed earned them. Also most new Soldiers like being able to tell the difference between leaders who have and haven't deployed so they can determine where more experience lies. Because let's face it if you are a leader, especially E7 and above and are still a slick-sleeve after 10+ years of deployments new Soldiers are not going to want to listen to you as much and will go after those with a patch.

Are they getting show up trophies now too? I'd hate to think of what they'd have to hear if that was the Marine Corps. Tough tittie! Boots!

One of many of the most asinine things coming out of the Pentagon or the field that I can think of to do. Political Correctness is the bane of any and all semblance of sanity and common sense. Let's all wear dresses and makeup so some Trans doesn't feel left out on his/her birthday!!!

Those patches are earned, not given out like candy. Let the newbies put in the time and they will get theirs. 1LT Claymore.

This is BS. I came in 1995. Around the Somalia and other minor conflicts. I saw plenty of soldiers that were my seniors, who had those patches. I felt admiration, not envy. These kids think that you get that from being a soldier that never got to see combat. When I went to Iraq, in 2003, we were given those, for participating in combat. Now... since the US is not at war, with anyone... they do not give those anymore... like they did, back in Desert Storm, and Somalia. So... my dear E-1s and E-2s... EARN THE PATCH... DO NOT FEEL LEFT BEHIND! Your time will come.

This is merely the logical extension identified by LTC Yingling (a failure in generalship) in his critique of our failed general officer leadership. Where does one think this all logically goes? You stuff the ranks full of misfits and what was once universally considered abnormal or unnatural behavior types and wala… I live for the moment a cross dressing quota selected [non]combatant commander is at the frozen chosen seeking to inspire is infantrypersons to stand firm for [no]God and [racist]country. How’s that gonna turn out? Maybe the all female 1st Rangerett Bat will save them (hopefully the ChiComs understand safe places)? Its only gonna get better, trust me….

With 25+ plus years in, I no longer recommend young men to go in any service, let alone being a line doggie or jarhead. Iron Mike would never make the cut today, he’d hang himself after the SHARP/MRT bullshit you have to be indoctrinated with (not to mention his white privilege). Hopefully he’s laid to rest soon, I’m sure a bust of Iron Michelle is in the works (with accompanied fictional back story to molly picture etc etc etc……). The military is a corpse not cause of joe, gunnie, or top, it’s the clowns sitting in the senior seats (I give credit to the USMC, you held out the longest, your all done now). There are currently more balls in an ISIS harem than all the halls of the pentagon….

Accompanying the downfall of western civilization is the emasculation of our armed forces. This is ridiculous. E1-E2s shouldn't even rate an opinion let alone open their mouths. What has happened to the military? I got out in 2011 but it seems like a complete PC social experiment now.

You are going to have to cite something more than what you wrote here to get me to believe that. I call BS on this one.

If that's the case, are we to wear less and certain ribbons and medals? Same thing and mentality. We earned those. Those who have earned combat patches should be able to wear them honorably for their sacrifices.

No, when I joined in 1975, my first duty assignment was with the 1st Cav Div, most of the senior guys were 1st Cav sandwiches, Cav patch on both shoulders. Look beyond the patch and look at the soldier.

Makes no sense you earn the patch it's not given to you when you graduate or pass boot camp or school/training you earn that ribbon or certificate, I don't hear anybody crying to take that service members place up in heaven. Alright than CARRY ON.

Not that I can tell, so far. There has been at least one other commander that did the same thing.
