"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get ‪‎hurt feelings‬.

Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

There is actually a participation trophy. It’s called the Expert Action Badge. It looks like the Combat Action Badge but without the wreath and to earn it all you have to do is a lot of the skill level 1.

I think the whole worrying if there feeling are hurt leads to a weak pathetic military this is just as much of a mistake just like when they started having everyone get a berete which only special forces once wore what next issue everyone a metal of honor during boot camp?

When I Landed at the high-water pads at NTC for a rotation the 4th ID unit I was supporting came out and gave great assistance in unloading the helicopter and getting us situated. The downside to supporting that unit is when we were met by the S-3, he handed us a knife and told us to remove all skill badges and pull off all shoulder sleeve insignia, Not blaming him he was just following orders.. Their reasoning i assume was so that we would all be on the same playing field and let junior soldiers feel included or that their opinion mattered somehow. In my opinion it was and is a bunch of crap. The velcro (Hook and loop for you institutionalized folks) was easy to just put back on when they were more focused with the fight and I was in a tent far away from them TOC but the skill badges were hard for some to swallow. Next thing you know guys are going to be asked to remove their tabs because it intimidates others who have PTSD from contemplating attendance to Ranger School.

Haha haha really. If my commander told me to take off my combat patch for that reason. I would have laughed until I cried at how ridiculously stupid that is.

I wore a combat patch from 1972-1992. If I hurt someone's feelings that was to bad. I earned them and I don't bend to the wishes of snow flakes or jealous little hob cobblers.
