Should we remove combat patches to be sensitive to those who don't have them?

"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get hurt feelings.
Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

Why would you take that from the Soldiers that have sacrifice being away from their love one just to accommodate the new soldiers. What's next, all of the Cadre have to remove any identifying patches, badges, and symbol of the accomplishments.

Seriously? Hell no! You have one because you earned it. If people are going to get butt hurt because you have one and they don’t then they need to go and earn one. I spent almost 10 years in, missed out on Iraq and Afghanistan because of a botched surgery in BCT, ended up in Kuwait in 15-16 for which i did not receive a patch and volunteered for my current deployment to northern Iraq before I ever got one. I haven’t earned one until now but that doesn’t mean those who had should take theirs off. Society these days is soft and it’s making its way into our ranks. Participation trophies and babying your kids until they’re 30 need to stop, or at least keep it out of our military. You have what you earn in this profession, nothing is handed to you or taken from another soldier to satisfy your feelings.

That doesn't sound right. Are you supposed to remove your medals because others don't have them as well?

Unequivocally NO! The US Army is an Offensive organization whose purpose is to fight and win Americas wars. If you are offended by that, get the f**k out of my Army. If you in it to collect patches, then do the things it takes to EARN IT. This is not the Boy Scouts. If you avoid combat tours, then not combat patch (SSI-FWTS). Newbies in theater will earn theirs IN TIME. In over 27 years of service, I have never seen anyone die from hurt feelings. I have seen death from direct and indirect fire, MVA, and stupidity. Any Joe approaching you with such a request (regardless of rank or position) should be directed to GFYS.

So what if pvt stuprd is feeling left out. I earned that patch by being in real combat. I have had bombs dropped on me, MLRS shooting over my head. Cluster bombs are very real. So I was in the military for years before pvt stupid came along. Just like me after 20 others received an award for a 30 day exorcize, I got a piece of paper that said I was a Hero of my town. Because I am the one who saved a mans life. I couldn't understand how a driver gets an ARCOM but I get a piece of paper.
