Thusly the analogy becomes All Muslims are terrorists. This is definitely not the case. It leads to discrimination, animosity, hate-mongering, and eventually it leads more people to taking on extremist views.

Before coming to my current job, I worked in security at a private gated community. On my shift we had a Jewish man, a Muslim man, a couple of Baptists, and a Heathen. We all worked together, and religion never was an issue. When it was time for Muslim prayer, the office would be secured for that use. My second roving patrol would stop at the gate if they got behind, and the work flow was not harmed. This man was not a terrorist, he was just an immigrant to the United States that wanted the opportunities that we enjoy as Americans.

If we want to combat Islamic extremism, it needs to start with our own mind set. Terrorists are terrorists, it does not matter what their faith. Timothy McVeigh was a terrorist. Nobody cared what his faith was, they cared that he used a truck full of fertilizer to kill innocent people because of his views. He was executed for this, and rightfully so. Ted Kaczynski was another example of a terrorist that nobody cared about his religion. So why in the case of religious extremists, do we suddenly care about their faith? Overall, the Terrorists that proclaim to be acting in the name of Islam as is the Westburo Baptist Church is doing so for Christianity. Do either of the groups truly represent the religious affiliation that they proclaim? Not to the majority....however, it takes very few bad apples to spoil a whole barrel. Since THEY are so adamant to call themselves Muslim, then I have NO problems calling them Muslim Terrorists, just as I have no problems in saying that the nutjobs from Westburo Baptist Church are Hate Mongers (they are not at the same level of terror as others...but they do try to intimidate, so still qualify in my opinion as a hate group). Call them what they are. I also feel that they should be treated like a rodent or cockroach infestation....and eradicated.
