CPT Private RallyPoint Member 1120734 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Hey everyone. I was wondering your suggestions. Say I go to BOLC for 4 months. What are your suggestions as to car insurance? I won't have my POV on post so what would you suggest? Get rid of it for the 4 months I'm gone or keep it? Should you keep car insurance while at BOLC? 2015-11-19T23:09:11-05:00 CPT Private RallyPoint Member 1120734 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Hey everyone. I was wondering your suggestions. Several insurance carriers factor into their rates long you have had continuous coverage. Your rates post-BOLC would only go higher. I would just strip down my coverage to state minimums with respect to liability and remove the collision coverage. What you can do is call your company and tell them you will be on military orders and your vehicle will be stored for the time period. This will drop your coverage down to basically just cover you for weather or other act of God, which is dirt cheap. Insurance companies would love for you to purchase liability because when something happens, they pay nothing and you lose everything.<br />Purchasing and having liability insurance is a bad habit. Period. If you are going to store your car, most companies will offer you storage insurance which is magnitudes cheaper than full coverage and there is no lapse in coverage. That is what I did when I stored my vehicle for my 2 combat tours and 2 overseas short tours. If you have USAA ask them about it.
