Should you wait for a deployment or take what comes?

I have been watching TOD for deployment opportunities for my AOC but haven't seen anything come up. I have seen some immaterial missions open up. Is it better to wait for something with you AOC or to grab what you can? I am also going to upload a resume to TOD. Had anyone had any luck doing that?

I have seen some officers pick 6 month deployments at good sites.

I have done both. If you are interested in deploying, volunteer (TOD/WIAS). You are usually going to a unit that actually needs the assistance, and are very appreciative of the help (as long as you can do your job). You also can end up in an all volunteer unit/TF, which is great, because everyone actually wants to be there.

The right mission may never come. Go for an 01A slot that sounds interesting
