I don't know the answer but are you getting out or just going into IRR to get your promotion b/c there aren't slots at your unit? And then looking for a LTC slot someplace when you're done? Also, congratulations on your selection, now the next part and you'll be good.

You will get orders. These orders will have your effective date of rank (DOR). You are officially promoted on that date, even if it was yesterday. You have until you receive those orders, plus to whatever date is on these orders unless the date is in the past (yes, it does happen).
