I am looking to reclass so I can have a unit closer to home. We have not been receiving LIK so I’d rather be closer to home and save money. I’m halfway through a 5x3 contract. Would it be possible to reclass and transfer units if a spot is available?

Possible yes. These opportunities are always need based. Talk to your retention NCO and tell him/her you want to reclassify. That's how to start the ball. You do risk losing benefits though as you would not be complying with your initial contract to be whatever you are until that contract ends.
