I've been married in the Marines for a year with the W/dependent rate of BAH for a year. My wife just joined the navy and I have a few questions
1: Does she get bah in boot camp?
2: when will my bah change from w/dependents to W/O dependents?
3: does it change automatically or do I have to tell someone?
4: will I have to repay back the extra money from the w/ dependents now that my wife joined and they didn't update it mine yet?

My husband and I are dual military Army. If there are no children involved then you both will receive the WO dependent rate.
Once she is enrolled as a service member you will need to take your marriage license and more than likely her orders bringing her to active duty to your S1 and they will have you complete a change BAH. I know the form in the army but not in the marine or navy. This will not happen automatically. I also do not believe she will receive it in basic but don’t quote me on that. I was the orderly room nco for a year so feel free to ask any more questions.

The higher rank will get BAH with dependent and the other without dependent.

All of you information is already in deers so just go to finance and make sure it’s correct.

You shouldn’t have to repay anything but one should be getting with dependent and also check to see if you can can family separation pay too!

Yeah ive heard that one gets with and one gets without but ive also heard that one only gets with when you have kids. Do you have personal experience with this or know for a fact?

Do you have children? If not, both will receive the single bah rate

Sgt Davis is correct. I highly recommend that you keep tabs on your pay though. It takes a little minute for recruit pay to hit right. Remember, Recruit Admin have 100’s if not 1000’s of cases to deal with. Good luck.Cpl (Join to see)
