I don't think restricting/controlling personal weapons has anything to do with it. There are signs posted at the entrances to a base or post informing visitors that privately owned weapons are restricted. The only way to prevent or minimize the damage an active shooter causes is to let those with concealed firearms permits carry on their person or do 100% vehicle inspections. The weapons aren't the problem, the people using the weapon in such a manner is.

Both of these are very unrealistic options as of the effect that both would have on base populos. Can you imagine what time you would have to leave for work if everyone coming through the gate had to be searched? As far as letting people carry concealed goes if security forces are responding to an AS and there are armed people out front how are they going to be able to pick the good from the bad guys?

So when seconds count, just be a victim...got it. Gun free zones just give the bad guy the upper hand. Most of the people I know that concealed carry, carry concealed on base after the Fort Hood shooting. Would rather take an NJP than widow my wife.
