I was wondering if anyone has noticed improvements in our VA health care system this the resignation of the VA Secretary? If so, where it is it located and what was the improvement?

Well my claim has final made it to the exam part they are using a contractor at least to make the appointment. The Fayetteville, NC VA is horribly behind still but I will continue watch and see. When talking to the contractor today he said he was in Houston and he has not heard anything negative about their VA system there. I chuckled because here NC the Fayetteville VA is on almost weekly if not nightly.

None yet. Still gun shy to go back after what happened last year. Still working on clearing that up too.

Not I.

Their phone tree still hangs up on me. They closed a claim on me without actually reading it. I live in between two medical centers (Richmond & DC), and they're both inconvenient, with no parking.

The people are nice, the system is hell though.

On the Positive side, Sec McDonald actually seems to WANT to fix things. He actually gave his personal cell phone in a live teleconference, and I'm aware of people who have used it and gotten positive results. I haven't escalated that far yet though.

I am sorry to hear that. The reason I ask this question was for years and years I stayed away from the VA because of what I had been hearing about their treatment of veterans. About a year ago I decided to check out the VA hospital to see if improvements were being made. I can say that during the short time that I have been going to the Alvin York VA in Murfreesboro, Tennessee is has been ok. That's my story and I hope yours gets better.

MAJ David Vermillion I've never been "mistreated" per se. Not by a real person. The people are great. The "system" however makes you want to pull your hair out though.

I have regular insurance, and can get by on that. But if I was forced to actually use my VA Health Care for anything..... I'd lose it. The initial consult they set me up for was a 3+ month wait.

I've literally called them, just to find out what is going on about a claim, and the phone system just says "blaha balah High volume.. call back" and hangs up on you.
