"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get hurt feelings.
Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

Seriously- this shouldn't even be a discussion. These Soldiers earned those combat patches with blood sweat & tears. The younger soldiers that haven't had the opportunity to deploy - can lean on those soldiers for mentor ship. I remember back in 1986 when I associated myself with the Vietnam veterans who had the combat experience, it was my intent to acquire and learn all of their vast experience. I never felt like a second-class Soldier because I didn't have a combat patch. This is something that you have to earn.
This is only being reported on two places, USA WTF Moments on Facebook and this site. I'd be more willing to believe the duffleblog over this site.
