It was the first time the group organized a race. There were some minor hiccups i.e. people taking wrong turns etc. But, it was for a good cause. Got 4th but it really wasn't about that. Ran it with my daughter and her friends...good family time and helping out the local community! My daughter and I have done close to a dozen various 3, 5, and 10k mud runs, road races. And charity runs over the last few years and that has really brought us together after all of the deployments.Response by CW2 Stephen Pate made Jun 7 at 2015 1:53 PM2015-06-07T13:53:08-04:002015-06-07T13:53:08-04:00CPL Brendan Hayes731153<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I did the Rockford half-marathon last weekend (my longest road race since I prefer trails) in 1:53:51. I'm organizing a self supported trail 20k/50k in early August and running a full marathon in October. I'd love to get back to the longer races, but I don't think my left knee could handle anything much over a full at this point.Response by CPL Brendan Hayes made Jun 7 at 2015 2:39 PM2015-06-07T14:39:28-04:002015-06-07T14:39:28-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member731243<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I'm not a fan of running for the sake of running. I grew up playing hockey and then soccer, so I've never had an issue with the running/skating involved in those type of sports, in fact I relished it. In basic, I ALWAYS volunteered for road guard so I could stretch my legs so to speak. But running track .... nooooo. <br /><br />However, I also like eating, so I've started running for the sake of running again to work down the belly :). I did my first 5k in April and am planning to do two more in July and August, respectively.Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 7 at 2015 3:21 PM2015-06-07T15:21:02-04:002015-06-07T15:21:02-04:00LTC Hillary Luton732499<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I had taken a few weeks off (just got a little too busy), but back out running today.
