I understand any commander she’s under, can remove her past U’s. A Soldier wants me to write a memorandum to remove unsatisfactory performances from over a decade ago. Is this possible? 2025-09-08T20:08:05-04:00 CPT Private RallyPoint Member 9021074

A Soldier just transferred to a retention unit where the unit administration saw a large amount of Us on the Soldier's record.

Since I was the Soldier's last commander, the retention unit wanted me to remove the Unsats from 2011 to the present (I wasn’t even in the military in 2011)

The Soldier stated that they RSTd and made up those days, but I never saw any RST paperwork. How many U's in a 12 month period did they accrue? I've been in the Reserves a long time and I have never heard of an MFR to remove U's from the record. I wouldn't even advise you to remove a "U" that another CDR gave without speaking to them first.

The "U's" roll off after 365 days for separation consideration; the reason they are trying to get them off is either prepare to "retire" them or clean up some ARCAMs. I would let your 1SG work with them to dig up any paperwork that ~might~ exist for exusals or RST. Then, if they want them off, their CDR and MACOM can assume the risk of sorting through all the paperwork. Having one less "U" doesn't grant a retirement point.
