How has the fitness industry's shift from multipurpose health clubs to specialized studios and budget gyms played out for SoulCycle and Planet Fitness?

I have been checking out both of these Gyms/Studios... And I tried the Soul Cycle Bike workout but couldn't do an hr of spinning... It is an awesome workout for an hr. Planet Fitness tries new equipment for their group workouts & they were doing Kettlebells when I stopped by... And of course Planet Fitness is much cheaper than Soul Cycle...
If you have any questions about these two fitness facilities or anything else about Fitness I will glad to try and answer them for you..or try to lead you to a source for your questions..

As SSG James J. Palmer IV aka "JP4" None of the above. Moving to Planet Fitnes would hold back my progress, seriously. Pizza nights? Tootsie rolls? Lunk alarms? Heaviest dumbell is 50lbs! If you're really into fitness, as appealing the name would sound, Planet Fitness is not the best option. As for Soul Cycle, I've never heard about it and, trust me, I read a lot about fitness. Last thing I did, spinning talking now, I got a spin bike for my wife. Really girly so I don't use it, hehehe.

I'm a long ways off, but this is the version of me I want to be in the gym. Can't get this at Planet Fitness, where everyone's afraid of being judged. LA Fitness is ok, but my personal trainer is the bomb and challenging so it keeps me coming back.
