Special Forces or 160th SOAR? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/special-forces-or-160th-soar

I'm a power generation equipment repairer (91D) and I love my job. I'm interested in stepping up and trying out for a Special Operations position. Being an SF Operator has always been a dream of mine but I recently came across an article about 160th. This attracted my attention because I love the Ordnance Corps, especially electrical troubleshooting and circuitry and would love to work on Army Helicopters. Any advice or experience out there in the RP world? I've also thought about group but I'm not sure how to get attached to get orders to SF Group. I feel that both can set me up to do well as a civilian once I retire. Can't say how but 160th directly supports Delta, SF, Seals, Rangers and CIA vs being one of the guys in the bush. Either move would be a win in my book. I don't know if you have seen the movie Lone Survivor but the 160th was supporting that op, Operation Redwing and Operation Neptune Spear that took care of OBL. They are going to essentially choose what field they want you in, but after introduction and B Team time, schools, etc... A Team is where you'll want to be. This will make your forget about being a 91D, as you've just been introduced to it really.
Being in a GSB isn't that great and you'll typically work for a soft skill MOS and not a hard charger that want's to blow shit it. If not go to Airborne school and I'm sure you'll meet a SF recruiter. Take your physical and do your PT test with a SF recruiter, get a letter or two of recommendation in your file and this will assist you. Do the 91D thing as a hobby if you love it that much.
1/60th is cool, but a very selective community with limited slotting for 91D.
Best thing to do, is find a SOC recruiter SFC Private RallyPoint Member Mon, 21 Mar 2016 15:40:53 -0400 2016-03-21T15:40:53-04:00 Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made May 27 at 2017 12:18 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/special-forces-or-160th-soar?n=2603303&urlhash=2603303

Go to SFAS and shoot people in their faces.
