If you have leader time, then a broadening assignment often makes you more competitive for choice assignments and promotion. That means it's not actually an MTOE slotted position. Having said that, performing this duty could be a broadening experience and can be beneficial. But it also depends on where you are in your career. Are you being looked at for SFC? What are your most recent NCOER positions and what rating did you receive? If you do take the position, don't stay in it for more than 1 year, get back to your MOS.
