I would be asking them what they recommend, and specifically what they forbid. A book should not be a problem, but I've known NCO's who do not allow their runners to bring anything with them that is not work or educational in nature. As in, if the runner was not working on correspondence courses or SD1 then they were not to bring a computer, or if it wasn't a field manual or some other official Army document they didn't need to be reading it. Most NCO's aren't that strict, but you never know and that's why you should ask. Also, expect to be awake for 24+ hours so if you do not live in the barracks I would highly recommend you arrange a way to not drive yourself home afterwords. On the bright side, CQ/Staff Duty is a good way to get to know NCOs/Officers in a one on one setting. 1LT Private RallyPoint Member Wed, 17 Jul 2019 18:35:25 -0400 2019-07-17T18:35:25-04:00 Response by SPC Elijah J. The advice you got about talking to the NCO first is a great idea. Be aware of the hours of operation for the PXes within walking distance. I liked to bring a kindle. Some NCOs will allow laptops or even game systems.. SPC Elijah J. Henry, MBA Thu, 18 Jul 2019 09:08:20 -0400 2019-07-18T09:08:20-04:00 2019-07-17T17:16:54-04:00
