This video was filmed at a NoblesVille Indiana High School graduation.(We covered the girlfriend and her family's faces for privacy) A Marine and his father, who were attending the Marines brothers graduation noticed the fake when leaving the graduation. They approached and the father started filming. After the confrontation, the fake Marine fled and was nowhere to be found. The girlfriend of the fake and her family had no clue he was a fake, she was recently divorced and this fake was wooing her. She, and her two sons, one whom was also graduating, thanked the Marine and his father for what they did. The now former girlfriend said she thought something wasn't right, but wasn't quite sure.

They exchanged numbers, and the Marine and his father assured them they would make sure this fake didn't fool anyone else. This was a win for all parties, except the fake Marine.

There is too much wrong with the uniform to even mention but a few of the biggies are no belt or cover, blood stripe with Lance Corporal rank, medals and ribbons all over the place and it is ill fitting to boot.

On a high note, he had the EGA's facing correctly.

I might have had to ask him to take it off voluntarily or I would assist, at least the blouse (jacket) that is. That is simply unacceptable.

This case of Stolen Valor" could have been spotted even by civilians that never served. His ribbons, medals and even the marksmanship medal weren't even aligned. I am glad he was outed. Now I have to wonder where he got the uniform and the medals, etc,. Glad too that the girlfriend got out of the relationship even though she thought that "something wasn't right"....

I live in Indianapolis (near Noblesville) and saw this when it happened on the local news. I was appalled - at first. The next day this gent's attorney went on the news informing everyone that this guy is his client and hasn't been acting himself since suffering a head injury late last year. The attorney said he was trying to locate paperwork associated with the head injury so everybody will know this is not a case of stolen valor, simply a sick man. If you look closely at the video you will see he has a 'deer in the headlights,' almost fearful expression on his face. This isn't a stolen valor case, simply a man needing further medical treatment. As soon as I hear more about this case, I will post it.

Good catch. I would question such things just because I know that retirees only wear their full uniforms on rare occasions, usually for vet functions or patriotic ceremonies and events. Sometimes family events. My dad and uncle attended my wedding in uniform.

I'm going to stand on the other side and say he is in his right to wear whatever the hell he wants and you and I all technically stood up and fought for that right for him to do that. It is clothing people. He isn't making any financial gains from it.

They changed the stolen valor laws so that it is only illegal if they are financially gaining from it. It would step on our 1st amendment right to wear what we want. The same amendments that you all fought for and want to throw away because now it doesn't favor you!

Please use an open mind, if we tell people what they can and can't wear we aren't free at that point. This is the United States of America and we have the freedom to say and wear what we want, even if it "offends" you veterans and servicemembers.

I lost my leg in Iraq but will be the first one to stand up on my other leg that was halfway blown off as well and say "No!" when our very first amendment right is being stepped on and you guys are there stepping on them too.

My only question is this, Why does the government make military issued clothing so easy to obtain? In my mind if a complete moron like this can get the uniforms, rank, and other military related surplus and just wear it like its a joke how long before the enemy starts to do the same thing. Uniforms should issued upon enlistment and accounted for they should be treated as a sensitive item. And when we leave the military they should be destroyed or re issued depending on the condition. I know that sounds drastic but it seems to me it could become a matter of national security. I know I will be ridiculed for my opinion but its really the only way to prevent shit like this.

All I can say is. WTF really?!!! My husband hates even watching movies that portray military. ( no disrespect intended as he served as well, just a different branch than I.) I will pick apart the actor's costume. Thankfully, I have not personally seen anyone in uniform trying to impersonate a Marine, or any other military personnel. When I see incidents like this happen...I don't know if I should be angry, feel sorry for them, or be flattered. There is no doubt in my mind that people like this have some sort of mental disorder. Like others have said...it's like this guy didn't even try. I wonder how many people are out there that are actually getting away with stolen valor. In every one of these faker videos I have seen, it is completely obvious to anyone who has legitimately worn the uniform. I wonder what the "good" ones are getting away with?

It's really pathetic the measures people will do for attention , living here in utah and working in the Salt Lake City there are hundreds of pan handlers using the military uniform to get free food and money from people when talking to them they oh I'm a vet and when ask more about there service they say shut up and leave me alone , I tell them they can't represent us like that first of all a true vet wouldn't beg like that they would get a real job!!! I must admit it has been 30 yrs sence I served in the army and haven't put a uniform on sence. There is no way I would know how to present myself in uniform with today's regulations, however if I were, to Dawn a uniform for a special occasion, I think I would atleast talk to someone who is current and insure that I was not doing a de service to my own military past more that of someone who is serving today. But I don't believe even time has changed the Marine corp dress blue's that much. this was disgusting I only hope this guy was really just mental

This is pathetic; he is bringing shame not only to himself but to the uniform, the USMC, and the United States of America by the manner in which he is wearing the uniform, the cloth of our nation. If you are going to fake it, and I in no way condone this, at least have the decency to look up the uniform regulations. Any Marine knows right away that the “Blood Stripe” is earned at the NCO rank of (E-4) corporal. This guy is wearing the rank of (E-3) lance corporal. Secondly, he is wearing the National Defense Service Medal as a service ribbon with the addition of 2 National Defense Service Medals, and not to mention together with the other medal, which looks like a Purple Heart, they are haphazardly placed upon the uniform.
What a shameful and disgraceful human. He needs psychological help.

Unfortunate that as veterans, we see this as an all to common occurrence. This is not an isolated instance. I have been to many parades, events, and gatherings where you shake your head and think "REALLY"! Not even those posers and their stolen valor, but actual Veterans. I keep my uniform pristine even though I have not served in 21 years. I earned the right to wear it, but only do so with the utmost respect for the uniform and what it stands for. I STARTED ASKING HIM SOME QUESTIONS HE WOULD ONLY KNOW IF HE HAD BEEN TO JUMP SCHOOL AT FT. BENNING, GA. LIKE WHO WAS THE COMMANDANT OF THE SCHOOL, TELL ME WGAT THE WEEKS WERE CALLED. FOR SOME IT WAS ZERO WEEK: YOU SPENT A WEEK PYLLING DETAILS, I WAS LUCKY NUF TO MISS IT. SECOND WEEK: GROUND WEEK, THIRD WEEK: TOWER WEEK, FOURTH WEEK: JUMP WEEK. HE DIDN'T KNOW THAT THE COMMANDANT WAS COL. ROY WELCH IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY. I ASK ENOUGH QUESTIONS TI KNOW HE WASN'T A TRUE PARATROOPER AND WITH 13 JUMPS ON MY RECORD, 5 AT BENNING AND 8 AT FT.
