CW4 Larry Curtis562952

This just popped up on my Facebook feed. A man wearing a utility uniform while begging for money. While I applaud the brass of the guy demanding he take off the uniform, there is one thing about this that is worrisome. He asks the man to show him his Veteran's ID Card. I was unaware that there was such a thing myself. I wouldn't be wearing the uniform myself, especially if I was in a position that I had to ask for handouts, but I also have a Retired ID Card...since not everyone who has served has retired, I'm thinking that maybe that may have been a little too much to demand of the guy. I don't know anyone who goes around with their DD-214 in their pocket, either. I'm thinking it could be that the man was simply intimidated by the guy who was about twice his size and didn't want to get beat to a pulp. I don't know...good call in any event. People who shame the uniform need to know they are doing something highly offensive to those of us who have actually been there, even if it means legitimate people get targeted from time-to-time. I think a genuine vet would have at least attempted to reason with the guy before he took off running, though. What do you think?

https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v= [login to see] 658166
